Everyone seems to be
by Kourosh85 (not verified) on Sun Jan 06, 2008 02:19 PM PSTEveryone seems to be comparing La Jolla's cove to mega beaches, but I wouldn't quite put it in that category. Downtown La Jolla and the cove has a particular charm and while it does have a beach(La Jolla Shores), it's not really a major destination for beach-goers in San Diego. It's more for couples, families, or students to take walks, relax, or have a cup of coffee. I'm a student at UCSD--which is about a 5 minute jog from where these pictures were taken and have so many fond memories of going to the cove for beautiful sunsets or even sunrises with my friends after a night out. It's a very sentimental spot for me and many others, thank you for sharing your pictures!

San Diego Bond!
by Reza-San Diego (not verified) on Thu Jan 03, 2008 04:09 PM PSTWhat part of town are you staying at ? Where ever you stay & what ever you do, make sure you head west toward the ocean... If you are under 30 and very casual, start from Pacific Beach. 5 min. north of PB, you will find La Jolla! (The best surfers are at WindnSea beach). Later, I recommend taking the coast line from La Jolla all the way to Carlsbad. You will pass a lot of little towns (Del mar, Solana beach, Cardiff, Encinitas, Lucadia...)if you get on PCH (Pacific coast Highway) 101. There are many beautiful towns, beaches, cafes and restaurants on the way... Stop at Del Mar Plaza. Have a nice afternoon lunch & drink on "Il Fornaio"'s terrace. It's a glorious view, if the weather is nice & sunny!
From Del Mar (Villa de la valle exit) head east toward Rancho Santa Fe & Del Dios Highway. Tell me if it reminds you of Chaloos or Haraaz road to Shomal or not? :)There are not any cafes or anything until you hit Escondido. From there, you can take the little roads to Ramona, Santa Ysabel & Julian. (have an apple pie in Julian!) Beautiful Mountain roads. I go for motorcycle ride in these places every week almost. It's heavenly... Good Luck Dosste azziz... :-)
Don't move to La Jolla ! :0
by Reza San Diego (not verified) on Thu Jan 03, 2008 03:30 PM PSTAll the other beaches are much more happening! I have lived in San Diego for 23 years (12 years of it in La Jolla). It's very nice, but at the same time it could be very boring too... Unless, you are a local or a very good surfer...
This little town is run & controlled by La Jolla Community elites! (Very very conservative & not diverse at all...) Many businesses are constantly go out of business here due to lack of support & extra pressures by this organization... La Jolla community does not allow any form of serious entertainment here in order to keep this little town nice & very quite... You are welcomed to visit & spend your money here, but to work & live here is a different story...
Bottom line, if you don't have tons of money to live here happily after, you may want to look at places such as L.A. area where there are much more opportunities to make money & be a part of a diverse community...
