Deep Sky
by

Once a month when the moon is in its new phase so it is darkest at night a group of us go out of town to image the night sky. Our favorite spots are the Anza-Borrego desert and the Palomar Mountains in Southern California. We image different types of objects including planets, nebulae, galaxies, star clusters and comets. Astrophotography as a hobby has advanced greatly in recent years since amateurs now have access to better telescopes and specialized astronomical cameras. These extremely sensitive cameras are b&w but are used in conjunction with a set of filters to produce color pictures. This is a collection of my images from the last couple of years. Speechless! Only if Jesus, moses, and Moe had see these!
by obama on Sat Apr 17, 2010 08:19 PM PDTThey might have changed their minds. They are all mind blowing photos. My favorite is No.15! Are you sure you took these photos? I am sure, you are, but it is hard to beleive an amature atronomer can capture these.
How often do you get to see any of these stars shown here? How about if you go on top of mount wilson with one of your equipments, can you still see like this?
Thank you for showing me another way to spend my time than blogging here!

Stupid me...Great Star Trek© of yours
by Peter Pan on Fri Apr 16, 2010 08:11 AM PDTI did not know you can capture deep space images from your backyard. I thought the Hubble® has been built, and sent out for that purpose. And I have heard that colors are sort of scientist-arstist rendition.
People say things...
