Dear 666

Great window into our past! Wonderful photos!
by farrad02 on Thu Mar 12, 2009 10:28 AM PDTOne can see why things went the way they did in Iran!
The Pahlavis tried to dress people in the Western garbs before their culture had even begun to change and before they had succeeded in freeing the country from the claws of religion and social stigmas!
You can tell that most of the people in these pictures, not only kids but also adults, are uncomfortable in the Western costumes (because that's what they were, costumes!)
The lesson is that you just can't force things like that. It takes time. The IRI is making the same mistakes in the other direction. And it will meet the same fate as Pahlavis' rush to modernity!
Doom!
Priceless!
by Ashkboos (not verified) on Thu Mar 12, 2009 09:17 AM PDTFantastic pictures! There must be somewhere in Qazvin you could turn in a copy of these pictures to be kept as part of its history. I hope you look into it.
Thanks for sharing.

Early modernity
by Qazvini (not verified) on Thu Mar 12, 2009 05:28 AM PDTBeing a Qazvini, it fills me with pride to see my fellow hamsharie, and indeed some in pictures are my relatives and neighbors. Very well dressed and classy people. Also, the Razban grammar school, which I attend in 1340’s is there. What a way to start the day. Thanks for sharing
