I had to go

Photo essay: Visiting Iran against the advice of friends and family

by ayekrangi
08-Sep-2009

Right before the Iranian elections, I purchased a ticket to visit Iran in August for 11 days. After the massive protests that followed, many of my family and friends, including those within Iran, tried to dissuade me from visiting. I was determined, however, to visit Iran as I knew it would probably be my last opportunity to visit in a very long time. I am glad I made the trip and hope to return again.

Thanks for sharing your nice photos of Northern Tehran. But since you titled your photo essay as "I had to go aganist the advice of friends and family", I was hoping to see pictures reflecting defiance, slogans, real people living in poverty, real life struggleslike high cost of living, historic sites, moments in eternity....
