I agree with David ET.  Posting this, especially as aheadline is distasteful. I'm sure all the gentlemen are enjoying this -- who could blame them. But there is a place for everything, and the front page of this website is not it. When I saw it yesterday I was shocked.

Obama, try to see further than your nose

You are a very short sighted man hanging to the old male supremacy rules that you were brought up with. Do I display the pictures of any female member of my family on the site? Why do you think that is a decision for me to make? I support any of them on her chosen path and that includes nude modelling. This is not the case for you who use the words Gheirat , Namous, etc to suppress the females in your family and enforce your own will on them. Ghirat to me only means defending the females if they are harassed, and that does not need to be only your own family.

Now open your mind and treat the females in your family as equals who have the equal right to choose their own path in life.

As with who is more Iranian, I think I am more in line with what has inspired the best Iranian poets and artists, than you who stick to your Arabic laws of female suppression.

Although I have no objection to the photos of a topless model in general but I strongly believe choosing it as the headline of IRANIAN.com was extremely distasteful and disrespectful to majority of Iranians and their primary concerns these days and their expectations from those of us abroad; especially that this women's day, Iranian women are under the most pressure in the past 31 years not to speak up.

We outside are the voice of the silenced woman of Iran who have so much to say and are not allowed to and we must act more responsibly in order to reflect their voices.

This was a distraction to the real issues on such an important day and a true gift to IR and its supporters.

You had 364 other days for this instead of offering this to the suffered women of Iran on March 8, 2010.

This post is intended to be a constructive criticism as I am thankful for the great medium and service that you and iranian.com offer to all Iranians. We all are human and make mistakes.

Woman's Day?

Hudreds of thousands of women in Iran are lawyers, doctors, scientists, engineers, professors, business owners, bank managers, you name it, they are. About 70% of university students in Iran are women. Just imagine the future roles of women (I know, I know, they are veiled, at least for now). Look at their accomplishments and then, look at this Maryam woman, who is aiming at her future as a porno queen. Some liberation, westen style.

My friend, we have an army in Iran.  At times it is necessary to colm them down since they are usually in the age range of 18-22.

All these men here are in effect saying, we'd be happy to keep our Army happy,, like they did during Reza Shah's time.  They would happily let their daughters and wives entertain the Iranian Army.  So chill out, they are vatan doosts.

It is however good to have a break from the more serious stuff now and again. So, please don’t lecture the rest on values or etiquette.
