I find it disturbing
by Newsha M. (not verified) on Wed Jan 23, 2008 11:20 AM PSTI find it disturbing to see the deep-seated hate and anger that some Iranians feel towards their own kind. Everytime something innovative comes up, wheter it's a piece of art or a new book, there's always someone - usually an inconsiderate and incapable person like the commentor below - that completely dismisses the idea without really understanding it. Instead of providing support or constructive criticism, such people resort to bad language and disinformation just so that they can provide an opposing view and fulfil their own insecurities. I don't like to generalize but I honestly believe that it is because of such people that today's Iran lacks freedom of expression. It is always easiest to sit outside the “gowd” and say “lengesh kon”. What's difficult is to make a move. I think we should embrace our artists and anyone that actually makes an effort to bring us together and tell people about our civilization. We are all Iranian. If we don't support one another, no one will.

by Beh to cheh? (not verified) on Wed Jan 23, 2008 10:09 AM PSTFirst of all LOL at CongraDOOLations commentor.
Second of all the designs look alot like Nimany and furthermore, they look alot like generic designs you see anywhere, nothing unusual about them, perhaps the arabic script is unusual. Someone needs to come out with a cool, original unique style, not this played out generic bull shi.t. And don't comment saying why don't "you do it", because I'm not a designer Moron!
Third of all, LOL at the male model who plucked his eyebrows, what a F.AG/Koonie!!!!!!!
Very Nice!
by PS (not verified) on Tue Jan 22, 2008 07:31 PM PSTListen, I just had the opportunity to check out your site. User friendly, great prints but few would be my only complaint.
As far as it being original, we are all unique individuals with a story to tell. Tell your story! Your t-shirts are moderately priced - so you people can't bash like you did to Nimany. BTW, that was really messed up.
Everybody should support everybody, I've brought from Nimany, and Masih - I will definitely purchase a dress from Xerxes Alliance to rock this summer.
Legofish, congrats and really nice job~! Afarin!

by Dan (not verified) on Tue Jan 22, 2008 03:16 PM PSTI think the idea is very neat and I wish you the best with it. I also love the individual designs. The website looks very sexy as well - it looks like a program I used a while back, flashbook or something of the sort. The only complaint with the site is that once you click a link that doesn't correspond to the immediately next or previous page, the pages start turning like crazy and it doesn't seem to stop.

by n.zanincanadai1 (not verified) on Tue Jan 22, 2008 02:27 PM PSTThanks for responding. The look of prints on T shirts (althought I don't know if you are using prints or material or some other technique, I'm just referring to the look of it as it comes across in pictures) isn't unique. They're every where. The mythical design looks a little like rock band logos which are every where too. But certainly you are doing a great job and should love your creations. In my original email I did wish you luck. I appreciate that this takes a lot of work. I'm into print making so I know. You are doing fantastic.
issues
by legofish on Tue Jan 22, 2008 02:51 PM PSTI'm the creator of this collection, and I appreciate all the comments. I hate to see the topic get derailed into personal arguments though.
N.zanin, I appreciate your critique as well but I think we have a different understanding of the term 'originality'.
I love all my creations but I consider the Minoo one the least original. In fact one might say it's not original at all since I'm simply using a branded logo, unlike the other designs which I have created myself. It can be labelled as witty or retro, but I wouldn't call it original. I guess Atefe was pointing out the same thing, albeit with a bit of sarcasm.
The funny thing is that the Minoo picture is not even supposed to be there since it's not part of this collection. I sent a whole different set of images for this gallery but due to some technical difficulties the editor couldn't use them and instead took screenshots of my website. I must agree with Alan that the posted pictures don't represent the essence of what Xerxes Alliance is and I wished the original set of images I submitted for this gallery were used instead.
As for the Minoo picture, it belongs to an entirely different clothing label (the Legofish store), and is in fact part of a set of retro designs (Att: Tia) which include other retro brandmarks like Poffak (see //store.legofish.com if you're interested)
In any case, I'm grateful to JJ and to all your comments.

minoo logo is cute
by Tia (not verified) on Tue Jan 22, 2008 09:55 AM PSTWhen I saw the minoo logo, I thought we were gonna see some Iranian pop art of the 60's and 70's, and I thought that would be totally neat & original. The rest of the stuff are pretty, but had seen similar designs to them.
Ay ay man bazam bikhodi harf
by n.zanincanadai1 (not verified) on Tue Jan 22, 2008 08:29 AM PSTAy ay man bazam bikhodi harf zadam. Now, I'm in.
I don't hang out at Walmart, but I don't buy Kleenex and Clorox wipes at Louis Vuitton either. In addition, many people with great taste and little money purchase many things at places that are beneath you. So what? Peef peef, I smell arrogance and an inability to take a different opinion (not even directed at you) from your direction atefe khanum.
I liked 2 designs, I mentioned it. The rest are not original. I don't know any other works by the designer. Even if I did, some works could be original and others not. I like Gap sweaters, it doesn't mean that I have to LOVE everything they make.
Get real...I need to take you shopping for pink pumps. Mehmooneh man.
Another ignorant racist's
by A nonymous (not verified) on Tue Jan 22, 2008 07:57 AM PSTAnother ignorant racist's rantings, your emphasis on your percentages also reveal your prejudiced position, and also trying to divide with your quote "Persians" too (behnam sezavar, "yeah lets bring back 3000 years ago ...it will help us so msuch lol i mean we are stock in persian thing while only 11 % o firan is persian lol god help this new persian generation ...go persian empire lol").
It's part of the culture and heritage of Iran and Iranians (not you), it doesn't mean anyone wants to bring anything back, Sherlock.
The gulf you are looking for does not exist
by MM (not verified) on Tue Jan 22, 2008 05:02 AM PSTJust in case you don't know, "Legofish" is the guy who designed that Persian Gulf error page (the google bomb page). Many of us have great ideas, but only some actually go after it and do it.

by Reza-San Diego (not verified) on Mon Jan 21, 2008 11:54 PM PSTDooste aziz,
I didn't know this talented iranian designer & never met her or him before either.
All I see is that she has manifested (in action) something really beautiful about Persia and Iran to the world.
Indeed, That Mystical beauty is un-deniable fact by any conscious individual & soul... Why being so pesimist, bitter or sarcastic about such an amazing & ancient culture & civilization? On the contrary, it should be embraced by all humen & not just iranian!
Beauty & Love is Timeless...
In fact, in ancient Persian language the word LOVE, was called A-mehr = Love not destructable... ( "A" Anti prefix ) & hence the Latin adoptation of it that has lasted to this day : Amor, Amore' & ...
Peace brother
Congradulations...
by Reza- San Diego (not verified) on Mon Jan 21, 2008 11:28 PM PSTFor me, It is Mystical & Brilliant... Bravo
"Mysticism (from the Greek μυστικός – mystikos, an initiate of the Eleusinian Mysteries; μυστήρια – mysteria meaning "initiation"[1]) is the pursuit of achieving communion, identity with, or conscious awareness of ultimate reality, the divinity, spiritual truth, or God through direct experience, intuition, or insight."
Best of luck, fellow Iranian...

Interesting concept
by Alan (not verified) on Mon Jan 21, 2008 08:41 PM PSTYeah, the idea and execution behind this is totally unique and brilliant, especially how it has blended art with Persian mythical stories. Very interesting concept! Though I think the site does the clothes more justice than the gallery here. My two cents..
Passionate Eye.
by atefe (not verified) on Mon Jan 21, 2008 08:29 PM PSTI would have to disagree with Nazanin. I think Xerxes Alliance designs are totally cool and fresh.
Nazanin, if you take the time to check out Xerxes Alliance website you will notice that each design has been carefully created to reflect the unique story behind the image, showing the creative mind of the artist to the viewer.
However, I also believe that one should have a passionate eye in order to see the points mentioned, and hanging out in walmart for a long time certainly takes away from this sense to grow.

Hi I wish you much luck but
by n.zanincanadai1 (not verified) on Mon Jan 21, 2008 07:13 PM PSTHi
I wish you much luck but there isn't anything unique here. I've seen prints on t shirts that look similar to this in walmart. The most original peice is the MINOO one that is totally great. The one where the model is holding her shoes is pretty. But the rest looks very ordinary. I hope the prices aren't sky hight.
:)
