Pull to open

Photo essay

There is no pleasure to me
without communication:
there is not so much as
a sprightly thought
comes into my mind
that it does not grieve me
to have produced alone,
and that I have no one to tell it to.

If, karam dige kheili dige suskeh shod, it was all me.

Agar hessabi kharabkari shod it's Ramin Tork and Jahanshah Javid's fault.

KIDDING!

Not really!

Btw Ramin, I was on the bus and suddenly remembered your post. that no 45, was indeed taken as you described it. How did you know?

It was one of those days, when the lighting kept changing within split seconds and my lightmeter was getting ADHD.

Jahanshah, that's so funny what you did with the cropping and the pull to open...

Azadeh, thank you. Coming from you.... I remember a few of your articles/blogs.

Ramin, ouch! You've caught me out! ;)

That's amazing. May I quote you next time I have to do one of those press releases?

I do remember you and Jahanshah being the few in the beginning to encourage me... Har chi hast taghsire shomahast! ;)

Thank you!

Great found objects and humor

by ramintork on

There are great found objects and lots of humor here.

It looks very immediate and the moment of capture i.e. when you pressed the shutter looks so fragile mainly in those images where shadows plays a part e.g. 45.

I detect a sense of self analysis and discovery whithin these images. There seem to be a longing for finding a feminine and to some extend gender identity. This is a multi layered work with elements that could be missed if overlooked.

You show an interest in discarded or over looked objects and with an almost hidden narrative so digging deeper there is some darkness to the humor.

If I was to use other Artists as reference I would say:-

Sarah Lucas for gender identity

Cathy Wilkes for using a language to reveal the personal, with her it is manaquines with yours it is a bra.

Man Ray for the found objects, the humor and the Dada.

But overall at least for iranian.com your work is very Avant-Garde and unique, and I have always been your fan.
