Thanks Monda. That shell-fish dish was called Valencia something or other on the menu. It was not as good as it looked, but I have no complaints :)

Thanks Sange for the kind compliment. Salute!

by amirkabear4u on Fri Jan 13, 2012 02:04 AM PSTMen can not run Iran do you really expect a woman do it?
Men!
by Jahanshah Javid on Thu Jan 12, 2012 09:01 PM PSTActually MPD... I was kind of shocked when I saw garbage collectors loudly throwing "matalak" at women passing on the sidewalk the other day. Tehroone khodemooneh!
Can you report back please
by Multiple Personality Disorder on Thu Jan 12, 2012 08:54 PM PSTI see a lot of bad hijab women out there in that country. Would you please report back, are the men going insane with sexual desire for those women? Are the women being groped in the streets, in the alleys? Please, please report back soon.
Very tough
by Jahanshah Javid on Thu Jan 12, 2012 08:35 PM PSTYes JirJir, life is very tough. I know you must be suffering where you are :)

by maziar 58 on Thu Jan 12, 2012 07:43 PM PSTcorrection
he's no longer alive.
But his name should be there as one close to the circle of peron!
he was not officially on the name of ministers since he did not get full citizenship but an influentials...
Maziar
Interesting!
by Jahanshah Javid on Thu Jan 12, 2012 07:30 PM PSTThanks Faramarz. I love trains. The older the better! I will check out the German station. I would like to see the country-side too... although I don't know if I'll be in this country long enough. I might just hop off to Brazil. Everyone is saying that's THE country to visit.

Thanks Maziar! Very interesting that an Iranian had such a senior position in Argentinian politics. Maybe I'll go meet the guy.
jj .....
by maziar 58 on Thu Jan 12, 2012 06:38 PM PSTfaramarz already told you about gomrok!
But enjoy it all you can that's my final place to live.
check for the name neman (a guy from Tehran) if you happened to visit national library and peron's archives he was his commerce adviser !.

Nice Pictures JJ
by Faramarz on Thu Jan 12, 2012 06:15 PM PSTEnjoy your time in Buenos Aires, but please take your time and visit the countryside.
Argentina is all about the natural beauty of its ranches and pastures, horses and gauchos; the wine from Mendoza and Quilmez, the cheap beer!
Buenos Aires is not the safest place and it is nothing like Santiago. So be careful if you get on a crowded train. They will pick your pocket and you won't even know it.
There is a segment of the train ride into Buenos Aires from the suburbs that was built by the Germans in Peron's time. The train still looks good and everything still works. That's why you see the pictures of Peron everywhere.
Those were the glory days.
$Pesos
by Jahanshah Javid on Thu Jan 12, 2012 06:13 PM PSTThanks JD. The $ sign is used in many Latin countries for their currency. The $60 on the menu is in Argentinian pesos, which would be about 14 US dollars. Tierra del Fuego is too far south -- and way too cold for any Abadani guy :)
....
by Jeesh Daram on Thu Jan 12, 2012 06:09 PM PSTYour travelogues have always been interesting and inspring. You look lean, fit and happy. Enjoy your travels and hopefully some pictures from Tierra del Fuego in a near future. I saw $60+ on that menu, is it how much that steak costs in Buenos Aires with all that beef?
Quiet?
by Jahanshah Javid on Thu Jan 12, 2012 05:24 PM PSTI haven't have a good look around to tell how crowded places are. Apparently there's a vibrant night life which I need to explore. My neighborhood is near the Palermo district which is supposed to be very interesting. I will report back soon!
The streets are awfully
by Bunyip on Thu Jan 12, 2012 05:20 PM PSTThe streets are awfully quiet. Was there a public holiday when you got there? You are right though the place looks like the Tehran of yore when yours truly was a young lad. Very nice piccies with #84 looking very familiar!
