Photo essay: My trip to Morocco
In many ways Morocco reminds me of Iran. A country which is blessed with beautiful mountains, beautiful deserts and plenty of coastal lines. A non-Arab native population (Berber) which was converted to Islam and heavily Arabized by the armies of Islam. to this day, although more than 60% of the population is Berber, Arabic is the official language. I found Moroccans to be extremely tolerant and friendly. I traveled from Marrakesh to Merzouga on the edge of Sahara desert. in my way there i saw beautiful Kasbahs, farms and Berber villages.
Very Nice Pictures Behrang Khaan
by AnonymousAblanBoo (not verified) on Tue Apr 14, 2009 01:08 PM PDTI have always loved seeing pictures from Marrocco and also the Moorish culture of Southern Spain. Its such a great mix, of Islamic, Mediteranian and African styles and yes very much similar to our own Persian heritage :-) JUST LOVE IT....
Ps. Berber or Arab, the Arab culture of this region is very distinct to the west (Maghreb) and different from the Arab culture of the east (Mashregh) or Shaam (greater Syria).
Love the Fresh Sweet Mint Tea (Chai Na'na)

Gorgous photos
by Ali A Parsa on Sat Apr 11, 2009 09:38 PM PDTThanks for sharing.I can imagine how much more more impressive they would be if captioned. I was willing to drop a quarter into some slot just to know what some sites were. Especially the one with high walls, like cemetry and seemingly raised tombs. Captionless photo are like people without ID or anonymous writers on this site!
