Shams Ensemble starts a new tour on Sunday, September 27, 2009 in San Francisco’s Davies Symphony Hall. Their other shows on October 3rd in New York, October 10th in Los Angeles, October 17th in San Diego, and November 8th in Washington DC. For tickets go here. (cityboxoffice.com)

In late August, I went to visit Tahmoures Pournazeri at his residence in Berkeley. He was eagerly expecting the arrival of his family, due to arrive from Tehran the following week, so that they could start their new US tour. Tahmoures belongs to a family of extraordinary musical artists. His mother is a singer and his father, Keikhosrow Pournazeri, founder of Shams Ensemble is credited with reviving the ancient Iranian instrument, Tanbour, and helping it find its rightful and prominent place among contemporary Persian instrument >>>more

Thank you for posting the music video "Cry of Freedom"! Both the music and footage blew me away! The music is so rich, dynamic, dramatic, and emotional. Both the solo and chorus are fantastic! The footage is just touching...I like the soccer players' pictures, like Karimi and his team members, they are super cool! I have added the video to my You-tube collection. My favorite pictures are 8, 9, 10, 11. This music video made my day! I am thinking of going to the concert in October if it is possible.
