great photos! But, they don't do justice about YAZD!
by gol-dust on Mon Sep 07, 2009 09:26 PM PDTI loved the photos, since these are the things that tourists don't get to see. couple of years ago, for the first time, on our way to the perisan gulf, I visited Yazd. it is the most historic city in iran. if you want to see how iran was 1000 years ago, go there. you can sense, how we changed from zartoshti to moslem, and some to bahaii. how our culture evolved.
it is safe, friendly, with gorgeous old architecture. no, or not much, thieves. they got the best noghlo nabaat type of sweets in iran (the store that is in entrance meidaan next to the new mosque type architecture. ask people would tell you where.) there was a fight over it when we returned. we should have bought much more.
I shall return! and I mean it. So much history of iranian civilization is there. you sense it and touch it! houses, aabanbaars, baadgirs, and of course the cats! The cats are the most beautiful cats i have ever seen in iran. I think, that's where the persian cats come from. this time i'll stay at least 4 nights.
Everyone should visit Yazd

Yazd is a clever reminder to our past
by fatemeholfati on Sun Sep 06, 2009 03:35 PM PDTYazd the city of the "Wind Towers" and decent people. The architecture of old Yazd is still unspoilt and gives the vistors a true reflection and feeling of life in old Iran. The roofed narrow and inter-linked streets of OLd YAZD is in contrast to "modern" and unecologically designed urbanization of NEW YAZD where locality has become meaningless and new constructions are grotesque.
A picture speaks louder than a thousand words
by Mola Nasredeen on Sun Sep 06, 2009 10:37 AM PDTThere's so much to know and explore about Iranian Zoroastrians. Thanks for the pictures.
Thank you for sharing!
by yolanda on Sat Sep 05, 2009 05:16 PM PDTMy favorite are #18 and #28. Yazd is very cool 'cause it is the 2nd oldest city in the world! Here is a Yazd tourism video, very cool also! If you are disappointed, I give you the money back (LOL):
