Ebi,

A website with membership info and forms is under construction. Meanwhile please contact:

manijeh_nasrabadi@yahoo.com

Or

persisk@yahoo.com.

MD University writers would be great additions to the group. Since IAWA is so new, outreach protocols such as invitations are still being worked out.

Here's a short story written from the point of view of a Shiite protagonist. The work is by an Iranian-American participant in the above seminar. The story shows how religious parables are used to instruct kids in ethcial behavior.

This story is currently being taught in modern world literature courses in some American high schools. From the occasional homework questions I receive from students, the story has encouraged critical thinking about Islam.

Iranian-American authors who are Muslims is something to be worried about...

It's tragic that those of us who are not secular or liberal have to grow up through the eyes and visions of secular and liberal Iranian-American writers..

Books like Lipstick Jihad and Reading Lolita in Tehran made me hate Iranian-American authors
