by Artificial Intelligence on Sun Apr 24, 2011 05:23 PM PDTThanks. Yes I have watched the Last Waltz. Its great! Robertson has a great background. Its very interesting as he used to be the lead guitarist for Bob Dylan as well. He is Canadian, Native Indian from his mother's side and Jewish from his father's. I love the native Indian influences in his music. I also love Robbie Robertson's first solo album where the song I chose is from. Its amazing in sound, guitars and the whole production (I play lead guitar in a rock band as a hobby so I am into sounds and effects a lot).

by Paykar on Sun Apr 24, 2011 05:21 PM PDTI think it is a generational thing. Of courcse taste in music is subjective and no one can tell others what they should listen to.
Regarding Stairway to heaven, were you listening to it in the cockpit? Zeppelin 4 was the first album I bought in the U.S. back in 77, and the second was Rumours by Fleetwood Mac.
Edit, Mehrdad I know what you meant by climbing it. I should have clicked on your link first before asking the question:-)

by Paykar on Sun Apr 24, 2011 05:11 PM PDTWhat an excellent choice: Robbie Robertson. I am sure you have watched the last concert with the "Band". The last waltz is a must see for anyone interested in iconic American Rock, although Robertson is Canadian!
I also like the two U2 songs you chose.

First time climbed in in winter of 89-90, all but the last section as it was not in, and then a few more times in the 90s
But regarding songs, I like Paykar's selection

Of Justine Mozart
by پندارنیک on Sun Apr 24, 2011 04:07 PM PDTThe classical music was not composed to be or to become classical; Mozart was kinda genius Justine Bieber of his own time.
Excellent choice, nonetheless, Truthseeker

by Paykar on Sun Apr 24, 2011 02:24 PM PDTThis is a topic that is forever woven into fabric of my whole being. So pardon me if I go beyond the format:-)
Here comes the flood. the orginal version:
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=vb7htoJAK7g
When the night shows
the signals grow on radios
All the strange things
they come and go, as early warnings
Stranded starfish have no place to hide
still waiting for the swollen Easter tide
There's no point in direction we cannot
even choose a side.
I took the old track
the hollow shoulder, across the waters
On the tall cliffs
they were getting older, sons and daughters
The jaded underworld was riding high
Waves of steel hurled metal at the sky
and as the nail sunk in the cloud, the rain
was warm and soaked the crowd.
Lord, here comes the flood
We'll say goodbye to flesh and blood
If again the seas are silent
in any still alive
It'll be those who gave their island to survive
Drink up, dreamers, you're running dry.
When the flood calls
You have no home, you have no walls
In the thunder crash
You're a thousand minds, within a flash
Don't be afraid to cry at what you see
The actors gone, there's only you and me
And if we break before the dawn, they'll
use up what we used to be.
Lord, here comes the flood
We'll say goodbye to flesh and blood
If again the seas are silent
in any still alive
It'll be those who gave their island to survive
Drink up, dreamers, you're running dry.
Bidade Zamaneh from Marzieh is great.
by Anahid Hojjati on Sun Apr 24, 2011 01:59 PM PDTI also like her Sange Khara. Unfortunately, I don't know too much about Banan. Impressive that you mentioned 50 of his songs.

by Paykar on Sun Apr 24, 2011 01:48 PM PDTI am glad you like Marzieh and Yaver hamisheh moemen as well. I like Barge Khazan by marzieh too. Actually I like most of her songs! Now, if I could be choosing the songs just absolutely for me. I think I would have at least 50 from Banan. and almost everything Gabriel did with Genesis! There is so much imagery, fantastic stories and compositions that crescendo to a climax that a few classical pieces can rival.
Paykar, yesterday, someone recommended "Stairway to Heaven"
by Anahid Hojjati on Sun Apr 24, 2011 01:31 PM PDTWhen I was talking to my nephew yesterday about songs/song writing, rhythm, he googled lyrics for "Stairway to heaven" for me, it is still on my BlackBerry. I have to check it out, two recommendations in less than 24 hours.
I would like to place a Marzieh song in my top five Iranian songs but I like few of them, so it is a difficult choice.
