I want to thank, with all my heart, readers who have donated hard-earned cash to their favorite website.
The total so far has been about $6,500. Our goal by Monday, January 25, is $10,000. [donate here]
Online donation campaigns on iranian.com have been rare. The emphasis has always been on generating revenue form advertising, e-commerce such as Amazon.com book sales, and occasional shows and concerts. And that's how it should be.
But there have been times when we have come short and good people like you have always been there to show your love and support.
There are not many websites that have survived as long as iranian.com. YOU, with your enthusiasm in exercising and supporting free speech, are the main reason for its resilience.
To freedom and democracy!
Love

by bajenaghe naghi on Wed Jan 20, 2010 02:59 PM PSTI took the liberty and did some calculations.
Taking out the $500 which was donated by one person, leaves $6000 donated by everyone else. Lets assume that the average donation is $20. That means that only 300 people have been genrous enough to make a donation. And from what I hear, there are a lot more than 300 people who visit this site to either read, or contribute articles or blogs.
I will not bother everyone to make other calculations, for example assuming an average of $50 donation which brings down the number of people donating to only 120!
I realise that the economy is really bad. I am in business and also suffering, but I don't think twenty dollars or fifty dollars would force most of us go without dinner.
Thank you JJ, staff and volunteers

by Princess on Wed Jan 20, 2010 11:04 AM PST... but better than nothing. I hope this announcement does not mean that after Monday Jan 25th the donation button will disappear again.
