History proved this man right!

History proved this man right!

The Shah was right about everything. It doesn't make him a saint. It does not in any way vindicate the excesses of his rule and regime. But it makes the man right about what he saw, and especially elevates his pragmatism and prognosis about the future from his own perspective up to the visionary level. His ANSWER TO HISTORY must now now be considered one of the most important pieces of modern Iranian political literature written over the past one-hundred and fifty years.

Ruh-i-Mohammad Reza Pahlavi shaad!

What else was I thinking?

Well, that explains everything. Our monarchists have a very special talent to recruit any cuckoo who is somehow capable of flying over their nest for their PR purposes. It does not surprise me that in your case, for instance,  they had to reach out to an Indian ghetto; I am sure the pay is good enough.

Yes or, no has the same mathematical weight, so to speak

by میرزاقشمشم on

A simple question, requires a simple answer. You don't have to become jittery. No one should feel ashamed of his/her nationality; you could have easily ignored my question, but you did not. So, this time instead of evading an innocent, straightforward question which has only some statistical purposes, or, instead of ignoring the question please, consider giving an honest and verifiable answer.

In the tragicomic way that only history unfolds and characters act their selected parts, the Shah hit an ace in the hole, bro!

Btw there is a whole literature of biographies out there of former dictators (of various banana republics and what have you) who have often reminsced quite correctly about their network(s) of foes. It doesn't absolve them of any wrongdoing on their part while they were in charge. It just reveals the correct characters, processes and dynamics playing out on the other side/equation(s) of the narrative, if you would.

We're dealing here with a pretty macabre Kafka-esque like story...

Q

i don't know about his Nur

by Q on

In one interview he told the British reporter who asked about Democracy: "People in Iran are close to their King, it's like a family, children's relationship with their father". He was definitely wrong about that.

And as far as forces that toppled him, he was a superstitious and paranoid man. At one time or another he had accused everyone of working to "topple" him.

I get the attractiveness of his seemingly nationalistic and independence stance lecturing the West.

These are actually very much like the IRI leaders particularly Ahmadinejad. But it doesn't mean he had it all figured out. He was notoriously out of it when it came to reading the pulse of the nation which is embarrassing to say the least for someone in a "family".

Unless of course, we are talking about an Iranian family!

Every dictator (every leader really) is to some extent deluded into thinking he's really the personification of the nation and that he is working for the good of the whole country. The only thing to do is to limit their power.

What is it with you and the Pahlavi family?  99% of your comments are about the Pahlavis.  What is your obsession with this family?  Seriously, it's unhealthy.  I'm no fan of the Shah or his son.  To me, they aren't really relevant these days.  But I see people like you who bring up these stupid things and fan the flames of division that the IRI has been exploiting so masterfully for the past thirty years. There are many other things that you can be discussing, like the young people who were murdered in cold blood in the streets of Iran today.  But instead I see you spam this site with a thousand comments every time the word Pahlavi is mentioned.  Pardon the comparison, but you have become the Pavolv's dog when it comes to the name Pahlavi.  You spring out and do your tricks when there's any mention of the Pahlavi name.  It's becoming rather predictable and boring.

Look, the Shah has been dead for 30 years.  Get over it already.  While he was a dictator, in retrospect, he was much better for Iran that this murderer bunch that has been ruling the country since the revolution.  Look at a small example.  I was reading Abtahi's blog once.  He had a picture of himself of when he was arrested by the Savak for saying things about the Shah.  He said that they arrested him, but let him go because he was under 18 at the time.  Compare that to the IRI, which has executed thousands of underage children (my family members included), some as young as 12 or 14.  Why don't you write about that instead of talking about how fat Reza Pahlavi is.  After 30 years of war, executions, rapes, murders, oppression and human rights abuses under the IRI, you have nothing to say but to criticize the Shah?!!!  Compared to the IRI, the Shah was a saint.

And as far as Reza Pahlavi is concerned, he will keep making statements, and unfortunately for you, you will have to deal with it. He is a free person and lives in a free country, and he can say and claim whatever he wants.  And before you ask where he got his money from, I say that whatever his family took, "noosh-e janeshoon".  The mullahs have stolen a thousand times as much and thev have given away a thousand times as much to every Islamist organization  around the world.

So, give it a rest already!

King Lear/Richard III

by Nur-i-Azal on

These are the Shakespearean plays people need to read.

The Shah's regime was bad. He was no saint. He was corrupt. Absolutely he was a puppet of the US of A. BUT the man was right about the forces that really toppled him, so screwed Iran, and what was in store for Iran with him gone and Khomeini there. I defy anyone to prove otherwise, however much bad feeling they hold for the man and his rule. He was right! That's all I am saying...

"Not many people wer directly hurt by the Pahlavis"

Really? Where do you get your information? How many do you consider 'not many'? Where do you draw the line between direct and indirect? and how do you define 'hurt'?

Do you even consider such questions? I dare say not. Nokarsefati doesn't often go hand in hand with critical thinking.

And before you even think of opening your mouth and nsulting me let me clarify: I alone, have lost 4 - COUNT THEM: FOUR - close family members and many not so close family and friends to this clown's Savak. So save your BS for other nokarsefats that will listen.

Thank God the people of Iran are not as foolish as your bunch would like them to be.

Thanx for the post Nur.    Not many people wer directly hurt by the Pahlavis, therefore the only reason I can think of as for the "Pahlavi Complex" that is still lingering within the Iranian community is:  Jealousy.

In another forum we were having a discussion on what should we do about MKO in the future democratic Iran.   Just like here (Iranian.com) Most people are against MKO and against letting them to live in Iran as a Hezb or Cult !!  Guess what? most of them are the very people blaming the Pahlavis for not providing uncondicional political freedom in Iran !!!

Hey Crush - you sound so pedestrian - why are you so abusive?  Are you also suffering from Pahlavi Envy?  What your parents participated in the revolt?
