After living in San Diego for about 4 years and before than in OC area for previous 12 years before that, I moved to LA for a job change after I sold business in San Diego.
I got a job in a company in downtown LA called Solomon Finance (I know their website sucks they have other websites they are promoting), and work as a SEO consultant in Los Angeles.
So obviously I don’t get out much and it is harder to meet new people that way. But I do try to go out at least once or twice a week, usually weekend nights and I have been doing that ever since I moved here. And you know what; I am still trying to figure out what’s so special about LA.
Everyone says LA has best night clubs and lounges and I went to a couple and I didn’t think they were big deal. Back in San Diego we had rooftop clubs and lounges with a very civilized crown. I don’t think I ever witnessed a major fight in a San Diego club but here in LA, home of over 400 gangs, fighting seems to a big thing in their clubs and lounges.
Also the streets of LA blow! They have holes them even in Beverly Hills area where it’s supposed to be a rich neighborhood. No I am not talking about bumps, real holes in the streets. Oh yah the narrow avenues, lack of left arrow on most traffic lights, and crazy traffic mainly caused by Asian drivers…OMG!
But that is not all. I have never seen so many homeless people on the streets. And they are not only on getto parts of LA also the nice parts including West LA and Santa Monica.
Talking about Santa Monica, it is by far one of the most over rated areas of LA. Yes they have the 3rd street with a bunch of people going up and down (probably the only part of LA you see people walking around) but even that Beach is ugly and dirty.
Downtown LA is by far the ugliest city of all. Yes it has a bunch of tall buildings that make it look good from far but once you get close you be like WTF! Yes they are trying to clean it up but it will probably take another 10 years.
People in LA are the worst. They are pissed off, they are mean, and the drivers are rude. Even the professionals are unfriendly. I went to a dentist in LA, who by the way was Iranian, and I ended up getting into an argument with him. So last weekend I drove all the way back to my old dentist in San Diego.
You may ask why I am being pessimistic, here is why. Hollywood (another old and ugly part of LA) completely showed a different LA in their movies and raised the bar for me and many others that I was very disappointed when I moved here. After almost 6 months living here, I am still in shock of things I see. Simple things, like trash on side of the streets and sitting there for days maybe weeks.
I really want to know why some of the Persians out here swear by LA and love it so much. It Sucks. Can someone tell me why?
