In time, once there is separation of the clergy and the government in Iran, religion and democracy can live side-by-side. 

Right now, the whole IRI system is either selected by a few mullahs or strictly screened by the mullahs before any elections.  Furthermore, the elected ones are under constant veto threat by the mullahs.  You cannot have true elections in Iran without major changes in the IRI constitution. 

Complaint all you want about Mousavi's misfortunes, but he also believes in the concept of VF and his hero is still Khomeini.
