Gunmen from the Shia militant group Hezbollah have seized most of western Beirut, driving out supporters of the Western-backed government. The gunmen, who also back Hezbollah's Shia opposition allies, have forced the closure of pro-government media. The fighting was sparked by a government move on Monday to shut down Hezbollah's telecoms network. At least 11 people, mainly civilians, have been killed and dozens injured in the city in three days of clashes. The UN Security Council has urged the rival parties to stop fighting amid fears of civil war breaking out.

by Anonym7 (not verified) on Sat May 10, 2008 06:07 AM PDTGranted that Israel likes to see Hezbollah getting weaker, the main group involved with the latest problems is Hariri's group which is directly connected to Saudi Sheikhs and not Israel.
Saudies and many other "Arab" leaders like to provoke anyone against Iran, remember that not long ago one of these Sheikh explicitly encouraged Israel to bomb Iran! Of course these rotten Sheikhs always stay clean and let their oil money lube the conflicts!

Obviously you do not understand how followings in religeon works in Isalm. One does NOT have to pledge to a religeous leader in his/her own country. That is the beauty of Isalm in that in does not realize "artificial" borders. Its thinking is global and without limits!!!

By the way what a beautiful alias you have.
But seriously, why aren't you original? Why are you reflecting back the propaganda that Mrs Rice is spewing? If you were Iranian, you probably would be smart enough to realize that what the west tell us is not usually what really happened. If they were so honest, why did they do to us what they did in 1953 (remember Dr. Mosadegh?) Get smart and learn to be original if you wish to participate in an honest political discussion.
Thanks..

by almo5000 on Fri May 09, 2008 08:33 PM PDTShiaa -Sunni divide in Lebanon would be what the blood suckers wish. If you read the news about events in Beirout, it becomes clear that the problem is purely political and has nothing to do with Shiaa or Suni. Given that the source of problem as Zirak says are the blood suckers in Tel Aviv and their henchmen in Wash DC, I suspect the Shiaa - Sunni story attributed to AQ is made up by the propaganada machinary of the two "stone-age-minded allies".
The events in Beirut started after the "Lebanese Government" trying to cut off Hezbollah (which has a very strong backing of public in Lebanon) from political affairs. It started by that government (which we know has the blood suckers' backing) removing Hezbollah supporters from secuirty affairs, and the like.

"Thus spoke the vampire after wiping his mouth of blood." that is you zirak...
From Planet zirak it looks like Hizbollah is a force of good in Lebanon. This a sectarian war. Just called friends and family in Beirut and they are reporting that Shiite owned businesses are open and Sunni owned ones are closed in the vicinity of Corniche Al Mazraa. Now whether this is done by force or by choice does not really matter. At best, this shows that one group feels safe while another is terrified. TV stations are reporting that residents of Tariq Jdeedah are leaving the area. This clearly shows that Hizb Iran is occupiyng Beirut and Hassan Nasrallah is another Antoine Lahd. Just like Lahd faced fierce resistance from local residents in the security zone in the South, expect resistance to the occupiers in Beirut. What a tragedy. I hope Nassralah and his stooges are happy for dragging Lebanon into civil war.
The report came while some Arab media outlets described the current clashes in Lebanon as a fight between Sunni and Shia communities.
In an interviews with Sunni clerics with links to Saad Hariri's pro-government bloc, Al-Arabiya TV network described the ongoing clashes as a sectarian strife.
Sheikh Ali al-Jozo, Mufti of the Jebel region, who is well known for his harsh stance against Hezbollah told the TV network that the clashes are a battle between Lebanon's Shia and Sunni communities and called on Arab leaders to prevent "Iran's influence in the country."
The TV network reported that al-Qaeda on all of its websites urged its operatives to defend the Sunni community of Lebanon.
The reports came while in interviews with NBN and al-Manar TV stations on Thursday, a number of Sunni clerics said that the clashes are not a sectarian strife and many Sunni Muslims in Lebanon support Hezbollah.
