by Anonymousnn (not verified) on Sun May 25, 2008 09:40 AM PDTThe Bahai faith is the closest that one can come to "Reformation" in Islam. Islam has already had it's Enlightment or Reformation period and it is the Bahai's faith. That is why the mullahs are so frightened by Bahais because they represent the progressive and Modern Islam.

Mr Amirhosseini,I am aware that you did not write it, but...
by Tahirih on Sat May 24, 2008 09:28 PM PDTyou found it and submitted the article here. Which is fine, sir, just wanted to add some corrections to the historical events . That's all , no hard feelings.
By the way this is the same, Tahirih, except with a new and improved avatar. the red rose was used by too many friends!! so I changed it . But this is the same Feisty Tahirih:0)))))
take care sir,
Tahirih
Dear Ali P. , it is ....
by Tahirih on Sat May 24, 2008 09:18 PM PDTTahirih which is pronounced as = Ta - he- reh.meaning the pure one.
This is not of course my real name, but it is the name of first woman who believed in Bab, and later on she was martyred by Naseredin shah's thugs, and her body thrown to a well.
She is my hero, she stood tall and was not intimidated by men of ignorance, she was the woman who said " you can kill me now but you can not stop emancipation of woman" she was the first woman who took her head hejab off in a gathering of men ( followers of Bab) and announced that she is the trumpet which was to be blasted according to signs of coming of Mahdi.
My avatar was a red rose but just today I changed it to this new one so , yes this is me!!! I have seen a close name too but it is not spelled like mine , which is the style of Bahai writings for "Tahereh".
I hope it is clear.
Regards,
Tahirih
Dear Tahirih,FYI,With all due respect!
by ebi amirhosseini on Sat May 24, 2008 08:39 PM PDTThanks for your comment. As I wrote in a response to a comment on my previous post;( Bahais:by Mr -Zeydabadi),this one is also not written by me!!so,it is not my information!!.

P.S. Quote:
"The world of mortality is a world of contradictions, of opposites; motion being compulsory everything must either go forward or retreat. In the realm of spirit there is no retreat possible, all movement is bound to be towards a perfect state".
Thank you ebi
by seagull (not verified) on Sat May 24, 2008 08:29 PM PDTfor this informative piece and I appreciate for the opportunity to correct the interpretation of the writer on the subject of Babs miraculous emergence from the firing squad unharmed.
Indeed there were more xtraordinary events that began on that day which have and will continue into the future.
These events have started the shaping of a new ERA as we have all witnessed beginning with industrialized revolution and the shaping of a free world.
Despite the unusually cruel murder of nearly 20000 of the Babs followers, the Bab succeeded in His mission of preparing the way for the One Whom God shall make manifest, Baha'U'llah.
Today, although it has only been 150years, the Faith of Baha'ullah and the love and reverence for the Bab has spread nearly to every corner of the world among the diverse children of God. His Shrine stands tall in the center of the Baha'i world center on Mount Carmel, nothing short of Divine intervention and absolute miracle!
Just a clarification on Babs and the fire squad.
by Seagull (not verified) on Sat May 24, 2008 08:00 PM PDTSam Khan ordered his men to drive a nail into the pillar that lay between the door of the room that Siyyid Husayn occupied and the entrance to the adjoining one, and to make fast two ropes to that nail, from which the Bab and His companion were to be separately suspended.[1] As soon as they were fastened, a regiment of soldiers ranged itself in three files, each of two hundred and fifty men, each of which was ordered to open fire in its turn until the whole detachment had discharged the volleys of its bullets.[3] The smoke of the firing of the seven hundred and fifty rifles was such as to turn the light of the noonday sun into darkness. There had crowded onto 513 the roof of the barracks, as well as the tops of the adjoining houses, about ten thousand people, all of whom were witnesses to that sad and moving scene.
[1 "The Bab remained silent. His pale handsome face framed by a black beard and small mustache, his appearance and his refined manners, his white and delicate hands, his simple but very neat garments -- everything about him awakened sympathy and compassion." (Journal Asiatique, 1866. tome 7, p. 378.)]
(The Dawn-Breakers, p. 512)
As soon as the cloud of smoke had cleared away, an astounded multitude were looking upon a scene which their eyes could scarcely believe. There, standing before them alive and unhurt, was the companion of the Bab, whilst He Himself had vanished uninjured from their sight. Though the cords with which they were suspended had been rent in pieces by the bullets, yet their bodies had miraculously escaped the volleys.[1] Even the tunic which Mirza Muhammad-'Ali was wearing had, despite the thickness of the smoke, remained unsullied. "The Siyyid-i-Bab has gone from our sight!" rang out the voices of the bewildered multitude. They set out in a frenzied search for Him, and found Him, eventually, seated in the same room which He had occupied the night before, engaged in completing His interrupted conversation, with Siyyid Husayn. An expression of unruffled calm was upon His face. His body had emerged unscathed from the shower of bullets which the regiment had directed against Him. "I have finished My conversation with Siyyid Husayn," the Bab told the farrash-bashi. "Now you may proceed to fulfil your intention."
(The Dawn-Breakers, p. 513)
[1 "An intense clamor arose from the crowd at this moment as the onlookers saw the Bab freed from his bonds advancing towards them. Amazing to believe, the bullets had not struck the condemned but, on the contrary, had broken his bonds and he was delivered. It was a real miracle and God alone knows what would have happened without the fidelity and calm of the Christian regiment on this occurrence. The soldiers in order to quiet the excitement of the crowd which, being extremely agitated, was ready to believe the claims of a religion which thus demonstrated its truth, showed the cords broken by the bullets, implying that no miracle had really taken place. At the same time, they seized the Bab and tied him again to the fatal post. This time the execution was effective. Muhammadan justice and ecclesiastical law had asserted themselves.
(The Dawn-Breakers, p. 513)
Blessed Bab, Prophet and Herald of the Faith of Bahá'u'lláh, Founder of the Dispensation marking the culmination of the six thousand year old Adamic Cycle, Inaugurator of the five thousand century Bahá'í Cycle.

by Ali P. on Sat May 24, 2008 06:28 PM PDTDear Tahirih:
There's another person with a very similar name to you here.
I always confuse the two of you. Could you please let us all know how you spell your name is Persian, and how you pronounce it?
Is it 'Taahereh"? Taheereh? or Taheeree?
Yours,
Ali P.
Mr amirhosseini with all due respect I have to ....
by Tahirih on Sat May 24, 2008 03:27 PM PDTcorrect your information. Bab did not run away for his life , but they took him at the middle of a conversation that he had with one of his followers and he was not happy about it. He was shot by all those soldiers but was unharmed ( How did that happen ??). After smoke cleared they found him in the room with the man whom he had the conversation. He did finish his conversation and told them, now you can take me!! He wanted to show that God's will is above their earthly power.
I am sure today God's will takes precedence over all earthly powers too.
Respectfully,
Tahirih
