The film -- Farzand-e Sobh (The Morning's Child) -- is set to be released in Iran in February during the official celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the Islamic revolution.

Carefully avoiding the approach of an all-out biographical epic, the film focuses on Khomeini's childhood in his parents' home in the central city of Khomein, with a few glimpses of him returning from seminary studies in Arak.

But it also includes flash-forwards to Khomeini's sermons railing against the rule of shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi in the 1960s which led to his arrest by the notorious SAVAK secret police and exile from Iran.

The story begins after he returns to Iran

What would be the sell of a younger Khomeini's life's story, I wonder? Will there be sex and scandal in Howzeh Elmieh Qom during his education?! Unless they do a real documentary about what he did to Iran and why he did it after he returned, nothing about his life would be movie material. I think that director guy has made a lot of money in 4 years and would love to drag it on for another 4 years, milking the mullahs!

It will be a distorted propaganda piece but I am still curious about the movie.

imam's disciple...

by Anonymous irani (not verified) on

"I still consider myself the imam's disciple," Afkhami told AFP in an interview.

Wow! We still have idiots, islamic fascists, traitors, and inhumane monsters like this guy amongst us who tries to repaint the ugly movement that brought nothing but murder and misery to iran and iranians. Too bad that the notorious SAVAK secret police was not competent enough to identify and deal with such people before they could implement their 30 year plan, aka the black revolution and the islamic republic, for destruction of iran. Likes of Afkhami are the left-overs of the people who sold iran to their bogus religion and their murderous god, and apparently that has not been enough.

This was a funny report!

Is it my imagination, or does the director, Mr. Afkhami, sound really schizophrenic about his project?!  He has been making it for four years and the time period the movie will cover still seems a bit uncertain!  Sounds like he likes the facilities offered for producing and directing the movie, but hates having to make a film about Khomeini's life!  Especially where the movie would have to deal with the "real Khomeini!"  So he sticks with a time in the man's life where he is less feared and disliked.  Seriously, perhaps their best bet would be to release this movie on TV to a captive audience; otherwise I don't see people feeling too eager to pay to go see a movie about Mr. Khomeini's childhood!
