Fred: enlightening, but only by accident

by Iranian-Iranian (not verified) on

The link to this article posted by "Fred" reads "Special issue groupies aware". Presumably, it's meant to be clever, but it comes across as merely inane. However, the larger dishonesty lies in the fact that opposition to an attack on Iran is deemed to be an opinion shared by only "special issue groupies". Is "Fred" aware that polls show a majority of people oppose attacking Iran? (Even if most supported such an attack, it would constitute an act of aggression). But facts have never swayed "Fred" from invoking straw men.

More importantly, it highlights the fact that there is little substantive difference between Democratic and Republican leaders on the prerogative of the U.S. to be the world's premier warmonger for the past several decades. Indeed, putative "liberals" like LBJ have been no less bloodthirsty than their Republican counterparts. In fairness, there are traditional conservative-libertarians who oppose Washington's policy of neverending wars and foreign interventions, but unfortunately both Obama and McCain belong to different wings of the War Party. In other words, to quote a song by The Who, "Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Boss".
