U.S. won't sell refueling jets to Israel, fearing strike on Iran

It emerged on Wednesday that the United States has refused to sell Jerusalem new refueling planes, fearing such a transaction could be interpreted as support for an Israeli attack on Iran. Haaretz reported last week that the U.S. had rejected a request for military equipment that would improve Israel's ability to attack Iran's nuclear facilities. Jerusalem denied that report.

Thanks for the very informative comment.

Let's hope, though, Israel will not play into the hands of IR's warmongers the way Saddam did. Saddam's attack only helped the regime consolidate itself.

In order to stay in power a bit longer, IR'S warmongers will sacrifice hundreds of thousands of more Iranian lives, without any qualms.

Also, the last thing Israel needs is the enmity of the Iranian nation!

They have enough

Israel has enough to do the job, if they desire.  These planes were bought at the same time the Imeperial Iranian Airforce bought theirs.  But Israel kept adding to their fleet while Iran had to make do with what they had.  The refusal was not to deny Israel the necessary upgrade but rather because the US airforce is still dealing with the upgrade of their own fleet which is using the same 40 year old airframe (based on the 707 frame).  They are still debating whether to use the new 767 body or the proposed Lockheed/Airbus version and unless they can determine that internaly they would naturally not sell a superior product to even an ally before they have it.

god only knowns how many $Billions were promised to Israel for this and what other "concessions" were made (read: more sanctions, covert ops, sabotage).

The refusal stems from the fear Israel plans to
deliver a blow to Iran's nuclear program before the end of the Bush Administration.
 

that was a surprise and a good step towards keeping them from destroying our motherland.
