In contrast to the diverse political views among American Jews living in Israel, local Evangelicals were unanimous in their support for McCain.
"Having lived in Israel for over a decade, and understanding the country's security needs, I think McCain is a much stronger candidate for Israel," said David Parsons, originally from North Carolina.
>>>And for anyone who thinks these people "no big deal", this is a good quote to chew on.
"The 70 million evangelical Christians in the US make up as much as 40 percent of Republican Party voters. Their views on social issues such as abortion, separation of church and state, and school prayer are 180 degrees to the right of American Jews, although the staunch support for Israel among many evangelical Christians has more recently brought the two groups closer together.

There is nothing to be confused about
by Zion on Wed Sep 03, 2008 05:01 PM PDTIt is only confusing if you take their end of time scenarios seriously. Since we all know this fantastic end of days will never actually come, what is there to worry about?
I am too confused by all
by skatermom (not verified) on Wed Sep 03, 2008 02:32 PM PDTI am too confused by all this. How do the jews benefit from people (evangelicals) who know that they (the Jews) won't be saved. Are the evangelicals banking on a mass conversion before the end of days? My jewish friends are appalled by the fact that these people call themselves allies of Israel.
American Wife
by Zion on Wed Sep 03, 2008 06:33 AM PDTNo. You are not an ignorant American. I am a dyslexic Jew.
I don`t approve of them at all, I think it is a mistake for Israel to officially endorse such things. Nevertheless it is good that they are around to defuse the particular madness that is engulfing our world. There is evil in what is facing us that must be recognized and confronted, and they do recognize it. The process that has made them recognize it is distorted, but that is of secondary importance here and now. Think of it this way: They are infected by something for which the cure is already known (The struggles that lead to Renaissance and Enlightenment gave us the cure.) This infection however has given them immunity to a much more dangerous and fatal epidemic rapidly on the rise whose various symptoms include Islamism, moral relativism and rabid antisemitism.
Civilization can survive that infection easily. but not this epidemic. Not without a long and painful struggle. Look at the typical lunatics in this site as a sample of the creeping madness that is coming and coming fast. Ultimately, any immunity is welcome.
Zion is living proof, exhibit A
by Q on Tue Sep 02, 2008 05:38 PM PDTon how racism and petty tribalist mentality can overrule not only common sense but sense of humanity itself.
The "other side" is always wrong/violent/evil/fanatic and if "we" do the same things, even if 10 times worse, it's only because "they made us"... no matter what "we are good."
This classic denial is also known as the "abusive spouse defense".
no... tell me no!
by americanwife (not verified) on Tue Sep 02, 2008 05:10 PM PDTyou're not saying... no, I refuse to believe it...you're really not saying that you are seriously supporting these fanatics????? Your last statement is utterly irresponsible... at least they stand for something??????? Ok... so what you're saying is... if I totally believe in something, even if it's "distorted and foolish", then I'm to be commended????? I'm trying to come up with an example that fits how ridiculous that statement is but I'm having a hard time getting past your whole comment.
Also... explain to me your first sentence. I got a little lost...say it again in English. As one of the enlightened on IC once said, I'm just an ignorant American.
Maybe you posted to this blog by mistake. Yes, that's it. Right? You were responding to something else? Yes? Please! I usually dig what you're saying but.... SAY WHAT?
Good.
by Zion on Tue Sep 02, 2008 03:47 PM PDTWhen the other side is full of blind hateful parrots who have no qualms against the emergent fascism coming out of the Islamic republic, the murderr of its own people and the danger it poses all humanity, they are at least a dedicated group who resist it. Their own reasons are distorted and childish, but they stand for something.
It's a win win situation for
by skatermom (not verified) on Mon Sep 01, 2008 09:09 PM PDTIt's a win win situation for both parties... until the end of days. When the rapture comes, the jews who have not turned to christ for eternal salvation will then burn in a fiery inferno. Bizarre aint it?
