TEHRAN (AFP) — Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday congratulated US president-elect Barack Obama on his success -- rare praise between two countries which are arch-foes, IRNA news agency reported.

What Else Can Make You Happy?
by darius on Fri Nov 07, 2008 07:03 PM PSTDear Zion
I thought you should be happy and cheerful by now.Poor
man is appointing many who are committed to Israel, and he
again emphasized that nuclear Iran is unaccepatble . I doubt ,if
the Iranian territory to be handed to you tomorrow with no Iranian alive ,you still will be complaining and asking for another excuse to
be unhappy.
Come on for once be positive and smile and stop asking and complaining.LOL
Well...
by Zion on Fri Nov 07, 2008 06:50 PM PST...I have no doubt he has fans in Iran as well, and I don't think that means anything special. My point was something else. I'm not sure how to put this to you here, but your "state" and "heads of state" are not really that "normal". It so happens that congratulating the president of the Great Satan is not what they used to do before. So I'm afraid this time it is something special after all.
Dear Zion
by Party Girl on Fri Nov 07, 2008 05:28 PM PSTYou might appreciate watching this clip which shows how people all around the world reacted to Obama's election. If you watch to the end, at minute 3:44, they talk to a few Iranians about how they feel about Obama. I think official congratulations for a president's election are a matter of protocol, but the reactions of people on the street s are a lot more genuine indicators.

We shall wait and see..
