Iran father pleads for mercy for detained daughter

TEHRAN (AFP) — The father of Iranian-US student Esha Momeni, in detention in Tehran facing security charges, said Friday he disapproved of his daughter's "illegal activities" but pleaded with the authorities to show mercy."I had no idea about the activities of my daughter but now I have realised that her work was illegal," Gholam Reza Momeni was quoted as saying by the official IRNA news agency."Because of our anger over our daughter's illegal activities... her mother and I did not want to visit her," Momeni said.According to the Iranian judiciary, Momeni is accused of security offences and her case is currently under preliminary investigation.

I guess her poor father feels compelled to write the letter of apology she is refusing to write.  This all has been done before.  Another pathetic page in IRI's abuse of its nation's brave and brilliant minds.

Do not let the west 's freedom get to you!

Some people let the freedom in the west make them think that they are going to have the same freedom when they go to Iran.If they do they should expect things like that,so the smart one who get involve in politics should never step on Iran's soil.

The thought of a father having to endure his daughter's unjust incarceration by apologizing is for me, a daughter, unimaginable. This family needs our prayers and our hopes. I hope this will not turn out to be serious and that she will be freed like Haleh Esfandiari. I hope she will be ok.
