US optimistic over Syria relations

Syria has indicated it is willing to help achieve a Palestinian unity government that could restart peace talks with Israel, the chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee has said..after meeting Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian president, in Damascus on Saturday.."If you achieve that, then you have made a major step forward not only in dealing with the problems of Gaza...but..the two-state solution ...Syria, which is under US sanctions, hosts the exiled leadership of Hamas and has influence on the Palestinian group.
