Iran has accepted an invitation to a conference on Afghanistan next week that also will be attended by the U.S., the conference's Dutch host said Wednesday.
The invitation to Iran, which was first announced by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, was seen as part of Washington's policy toward greater engagement with the Islamic republic.

/anonymous-fish - you summed it up

mehdi and farhad
by anonymous fish on Mon Mar 30, 2009 09:48 AM PDTi can't remember where i read this but i think it pretty much sums it up. and people who still want to pretend that anti-semitism is different than anti-zionism. just look at all the israel/zionist/jewish blogs on IC.
"We actually have kind of an answer to that question. Here's a very crude comparison, in the form of a Google search on Sharon Belgium Prosecute. It's obviously not a great comparison, but you can tell that something's up since the second Google search is coming up with almost a quarter of a million hits. The word you're looking for is "obsessed". As in "you can tell that someone is anti-Semitic when they're obsessed with finding the 'Jewish angle' or the 'Jewish influence' to everything".
farhad - have you heard of "Ashley & David"
by Mehdi Mazloom on Fri Mar 27, 2009 04:37 PM PDTthese two individual have not escaped my attention. I am aware with their obsession with Israel.
Here is the very reason why they hate Israel. (Ashley is probably the Israeli girl and David is one of these guys). Watch, listen. Hilarious is still a mild word for it. BE SURE TO LISTEN THE WHOLE PIECE

by Farhad Kashani on Fri Mar 27, 2009 04:01 PM PDTMehdi Mazloom aziz,
These Fascist-IRI supporters like Ostaad and XerXes (who I think should change his name to Rohollah!), will never give you a straight answer on why they change the subject to Israel and what is this sick obsession with Israel? Because they know it’s a trick that IRI came up with to divert attention from it and mobilize and unite all Muslims, under its leadership, to promote its world dominating fundamentalist agenda. Israel is bad, OK, even people in Israel say Israel should make peace with Arabs. But these people (Iranian Islamo Socialists inspired by IRI) are something else! They have this irrational obsession/hate with Israel. And they have sacrificed our country in the name of this irrational hate that no one else in the wold has.
It’s a trick and these Socialists fall into it all the time.

you've put a very interesting and intriquing spin on this issue. seeing iran as an "ally" versus just being civil! now... wouldn't that be cool! i am still determined that when (not if) relations are renewed that we'll be one of the first on the plane to go work in whatever american-based facility there is. to that end... let ME get busy on MY farsi.

US finally realising..
by iranian4ever (not verified) on Fri Mar 27, 2009 07:33 AM PDTPakistan and not Iran is the greatest threat to stability in the region and potentially the world. US needs Iran on THEIR side if they are to combat and contain Taliban insurgency originating from PAKISTAN and bring any kind of stability to Afghanistan. Pakistan is the only Islamic Republic in the world with confirmed nukes and weapons to deliver them and with a government that aids terrorist operations abroad.
Funny how Bush is now out of the picture and Israel is losing friends and allies rapidly, right-wingers and Israel supporters are continuing to put a bizarre anti-Iran/IRI spin on everything Obama's admin does.

I really want to improve my farsi (Spoken in tehran). Many times I listen to the Mullahs just to learn new vocabulary or remember the one which I had forgotten. (I give a shit to what they say though)
farsi is a beautiful language and it will be a shame to forget it. Back in my days at the university, I would speak only farsi with the Iranian students.

First, if Israel's neighbors think it has nukes, they should not have given it the reason to have them in the first place.
Second. Speaking of "racist countries" which Arab or Islamic states do you compare to.
Saudi Arabia? The birth of Islam - The universal religious of peace, equality, tolerance to woman, and non-Muslims. The "custodian of its two holiest sites.
Muslims: 100%
Non-Muslims: 0%
Can you get any more racist as that?.
On another matter. if someone would launch rockets onto civilian centers in the most neutral, and respected country like Switzerland. Sure enough they certainly would react exactly as Israel does to protect their civilians. After which gullible like you would accuse them as "terrorist country".
By now thugs like Hamas ought to know that, no Arab country ever recovered any land from Israel by force of arms. Every square inch was returned through civilized negotiations, in exchange for peace.
(don't you jump your gun with the claim, Israel's withdrawal from S. Lebanon back in 2000. Israel never had any territorial dispute with Lebanon, no any claim to that parcel of land. Even Shab'a farms are considered as Syrian territory which eventually will be returned to Syria after peace treaty is signed with them).

When it comes to democracy, they all claim that Israel is one, but when they are criticized then they argue, well how about Darfur? They are killing too!!!
Israel must be stopped for whatever price.)
Israel is the only country on earth that is openly racist, promotes racism and has Nucks. They are dangerous nation and at some point the West must put a stop to their monsterous creation. The Israelis now are too brain washed to even notice what they have become...

What is the reality Q?
by Farhad Kashani on Thu Mar 26, 2009 10:15 AM PDTWhat is the reality Q? Enlighten us please! That IRI is “important”! What does that change??
Hitler was “important” too, and so was Stalin. So basically the livelihood and survival of Iran is based on the satisfaction we get from people acknowledging “we’re important”? How s…d is that?
Let me tell you how “important” IRI is: IRI is the most “important” figure and the central government that promotes Islamic Fundamentalism in the world. IRI is the most “important” figure in the chaos caused in Afghanistan and Iraq. IRI is the most “important” figure in the tension in the Middle East. IRI is the most “important” factor why peace hasn’t happened between Israel and Arabs by its constant provocation of animosity between the two. IRI is the most “important” factor in what Iran has become, a country that leads the world in violation of human rights, supporting terrorism and inspiring fundamentalism.
You want me to go on?

by meet (not verified) on Thu Mar 26, 2009 09:28 AM PDTmehdi: what is Tarboosh'ha?
Like that famous saying goes.
by Mehdi Mazloom on Thu Mar 26, 2009 08:19 AM PDTKeep your friends close, and your enemies even closer. When Hilary Clinton declared "we will conduct smart diplomacy", that is most likely what she meant. You draw you own conclusion.
Lets remember that Obama's own late father was a Muslim. He lived in an Islamic country (Indonesia), and knows the mind set of fundamentalists in Tehran. Their need for "eh-teram" (respect), and that venerable honor system. He, either already knows, or has good American-Iranian advisers to tell him all about the Mullah's tricks and gamesmanship, and what makes them tick.
I would not underestimate this guy in White house by any imaginations. He is smart, savvy and a very disarming smile.
My hunch is, those tarboosh'ha in Tehran finally have met their match.
Stay tune.
