Last week, we reported on how retired U.S. Army Col. Ralph Peters penned an essay for a leading neocon group calling for future U.S. military attacks on media outlets and journalists. In the journal of the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA), Peters wrote, "future wars may require censorship, news blackouts, and, ultimately, military attacks on the partisan media. … [A] media establishment that has forgotten any sense of sober patriotism may find that it has become tomorrow’s conventional wisdom. The point of all this is simple: Win. In warfare, nothing else matters. If you cannot win clean, win dirty. But win."

Rather, it is satire, and it touches upon many issues, such as hidden agendas, true intentions, Middle East culture, torture, America's actions, hypocricy, failure to analyze issues by users of this site, etc. In fact, by leaving that comment, you became the poster child of what that commentor was trying to describe.

Not In My Name
by Ibrahim Jassam (not verified) on Thu May 28, 2009 07:34 AM PDTHello everyone. I am writing you from the undisclosed detention facility where I am being held. I was surfing the net and upon Googoling my name, I came across this piece. After reading it, I felt compelled to comment, even though I normally try to stay away from online discussions due to my busy schedule here at the prison.
I just wanted to ask that you people cease and desist from writing articles or stories about me. The low level of intelligence and discussions on this site really embarrass me in front of my fellow inmates….and you know how it is among Middle Eastern men, once a lefty woman starts to support your cause, they call you a sissy!! So, please let me be. I rather have electrodes attached to my penis and rot in prison that to have to endure reading another mindless, reactionary comment on this site from people with other agendas who really don’t give a rat’s ass about me.
Well, gotta go. My calendar is pretty booked as I said. I am scheduled to be water boarded is 15 minutes.
Take care, and I will see you…well, I don’t know when I will see you, but you get the point.
Of course the two cases are very different, that is for sure
by Bavafa on Wed May 27, 2009 06:16 PM PDTOne was acted by IRI which we hate no matter what, the other is enacted by the angels known as the USArmed forces. And every one knows that they can do no wrong and if in fact they did wrong but to Iranians, then they must have deserved it.
Some thing smells really foul here

The Bankrupt Left
by Sassan (not verified) on Wed May 27, 2009 12:19 PM PDTThe left is the REAL enemy of FREEDOM around the world. It's not the fascists like the IRI regime, but the left that supports them at every turn in their so-called ideological warfare against what they perceive to be the "imperialist" agenda.
The left won the revolution for the mullahs, and today, even though the Islamic Republic has slaughtered thousands of leftists, they still adhere to their ideological dogma (above all, including their lives) and support the mullahs in their near child-like battle against their ultimate boogey man (Uncle Sam).
To compare the imprisonment of R. Saberi to this case is pure rubbish, borne out of a fixed, short-sighted, dim and dangerous world view. America is no angel, to be sure, but these leftists parasites actually promote the world's most evil regime (the IRI) just to spite and repel their imagined hereditary foes. It's not a crime what the left does, but it should be.
Mind you, it was the left that destroyed Mossadegh, just as they destroyed the Shah. Instead of supporting Mossadegh, they mobbed Tehran a day after the Shah left, in a power grab move (giving the Royal army an excuse to take over), because they simply did not trust Mossadegh, whom the left viewed as a land-owning arsitocrat beholden to their hated America (Truman administration).
Anyone who truly thinks that the CIA or the MI6 destroyed Mossadegh, needs to read Ervand Abrahimian's "Iran Between Two Revolutions" -- a truly awesome masterpiece. God bless freedom for all who truly deserve it.
How stupid!
by Kaveh Nouraee on Wed May 27, 2009 11:32 AM PDTRoxana Saberi's case and that of Ibrahim Jassam are as different as day and night.
Saberi was arrested for "buying a bottle of wine". The additional charges were manufactured then added. The entire matter was created for political purposes only.
Jassam's detention, while controversial to say the least, is a miltary matter. And whether anyone likes it or not, there is a state of war in Iraq. I'm not suggesting that he remain locked up, but the two cases couldn't be any more different.

by smhb on Wed May 27, 2009 10:26 AM PDTThats what happens when corporate media only hires good looking men and sexy women to attract audiences. Anchors with no substance and depth and understanding of issues, let alone integrity. Dont expect much from this bunch. They just tow the line and spew out what the white house, dod, state and intelligence agencies tell them.
I second that, indeed great article
by Bavafa on Wed May 27, 2009 10:23 AM PDTBut where is "gooshe sheneva". The just way is followed only if and when it suits their purpose.

Thanks for posting, I hope journalists who made such a big fuss about Saberi read this article and see what is happening to one of their own...
