در آمريکای پنجاه سال قبل، اگر سياه پوستان می خواستند بگويند يا «حقوق مدنی کامل» يا «هيچ»! چه چيزی نصيبشان می شد جز همان «هيچ»؟ اگر سياهان پنجاه سال قبل، می خواستند بگويند يا «همه آزادی» را به ما «بدهيد» يا «هيچی» نمی خواهيم، يعنی اگر می خواستند منتظر بنشينند تا سفيدپوستها «حق شهروندی» آنها را بدهند، الان نهايتا" از بردگی در مزارع پنبه «ارتقاء درجه» پيدا کرده و به کار در کاباره ها و نگهبانی ميخانه ها و فاحشه خانه ها مشغول بودند >>>

The most important reason to vote in these elections is firstly, not to foreclose the possibility of positive change through continuation of destructive policies, both domestic and in international diplomacy, of the last 4 years; and secondly, to defend the right to vote, despite its deficiencies and distortions, so that through the act of conscious participation we strengthen our democratic institutions.
