Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, angrily warned opposition leaders Friday to stay off the streets and denied opposition claims that last week’s disputed election was rigged, praising the ballot as an “epic moment that became a historic moment.”In a stern and lengthy sermon at Friday prayers in Tehran, he also called directly for an end to the protests that have brought hundreds of thousands of protesters onto the streets to back demands for a new election.“Street challenge is not acceptable,” he said. “This is challenging democracy after the elections.”His remarks seemed to reinforce the divide between Iran’s rulers and supporters of the main opposition candidate, Mir Hussein Moussavi, who have accused the authorities of rigging the vote.
>>>It is now clear that the Iranian regime is ready to go all out to confront Iranian people. Khamenei is being consistent with his actions, favoring a candidate, authorizing cheating in his favor during the elections, and confronting any protests, killing and injuring unarmed citizens, while capturing and torturing another group, trying to extract forced confessions out of them. I suppose he plans a few executions here and there to solve his problem. He is being consistent, alright. The unknown here is how the people on the streets would react to this complete endorsement of the sham elections.
Shame on IRI for its continued criminal confrontation of Iranian people. Shame.

I saw that namaz jomeh
by Souri on Fri Jun 19, 2009 06:14 AM PDTI was watching it at TV, and it made me sad and hopeless. Knowing the stubbornness of the Islamist, I was not surprised he will back the result and the election. But what made me mad was to see, all those so called politicians in the first row, who were crying hard, when he start addressing khomeini and saying: I am physically weak, I am old .....I was astonished by the reaction of all those men who were crying like babies!! He even talked about the Waco event, he put all the blame on the US government for that disaster! He said: "they" burned a house with 80 person in it!!
Anyway, dear Mr Yassari, do not worry. This is all a facade. Just another movie. They want to show the "oneness" of all IRI faces. We must wait tomorrow (or even Sunday) to know the final decision.
Of course, the decision has been already made yesterday, when Rafsanjani was in Qom, but it is not yet open to the public.
There's another possibility: Maybe they had agree to keep the "unity" face and announce the legitimacy of the election and the elected president. Then after a few months, the elected president, will become very sick and have to resign from his post :0)
Nobody knows what is to play, in this chaotic government. Meanwhile, they had destroyed all the banks, which will be a good excuse for AN, not being able to show the document of fraud he had promised to the people.
No Wonder ...
