TEHRAN: Two people were killed in a suicide bombing on Saturday at the shrine of Iran's revolutionary leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, state television said. Iran's English-language Press TV said eight people were also wounded in the bombing, which was likely to inflame anger among Iranians who revere the founder of the Islamic Republic. Press TV later said the attacker also died, without saying whether it had counted the bomber in the two dead. The semi-official Fars news agency said the bombing took place at the northern wing of the shrine. Its report was confirmed by a senior police official. Elsewhere in Tehran, Iranian riot police used teargas to disperse demonstrators protesting against a disputed presidential election, a witness said. Press TV said police also used water canon against demonstrators at Tehran's Enghelab square

Mehdi jaan,

Very true. Khomeini invented the legacy of "martyrdom" (i.e Islamic Fundamnetalism) which its main weapon is suicide bombing. Its ironic that after all these deaths and destructions around the world by people who subscribe to Khomeini's legacy, the brave Iranian people come around and understand the root cause of all their peoblems, which is Khomeini's legacy.

what did Khameini do for Iranian people?

by Mehdi Mazloom on

Granted, one can argue about the late shah's reign. was he good or bad for Iran. Notwithstanding, looking back for last 30 years, we also need to ask, what did exactly Khomeini bring to Iran.

Backwardness. Closed minds and hearts to new ideas. Oppression. Deprivation of human rights. barbaric stoning. Poverty. Over population. Blind hatred to people ("Zionists") who had done nothing to him, nor the Iranians. Religious fundamentalism which took Iran back 1399 years, 7 months, and 23 days, during which rules of the deserts of Arabia were the norm of the day. Stupidity (he was not a particularly an intelligent man). Poorly educated. burr.

So why is he "revered" by the Iranians?. perhaps he is revered by the less educated and innocent peasants, who do not know any better then that. However among the educated ones, he is being held at very low level (the very reason 90% of Iran's students loath this and his successor backwards).

You can bet your farm that, on the same day when Iran is freed from it oppressors who occupy their hearts, and mind, khomeini's shrine will be removed from the scene, and every trace of him will be erased from Iran's memory and sad history.
