Crocodile Tears for Iranians
Tehran Bureau / Dr Sahimi

Some Iranians living in the U.S., who support Ahmadinejad because they believe that he has stood up firmly to the U.S. and has succeeded in setting up Iran’s uranium enrichment facilities, believe that international condemnation of what has been happening in Iran would be tantamount to interfering in Iran’s internal affairs. Not so.
Condemning what has happened in Iran and expressing solidarity with the Green Movement would not be interference in Iran’s internal affairs, because what is being condemned first and foremost are violations of fundamental human and civil rights of the Iranian people, and respect for such rights, and condemning their violations, are universal values.
Just as all peace-loving people condemn the carnage committed by Israel against the Palestinians, by George W. Bush and his cabal against the Iraqis, by Russia against the Chechens, by Saddam Hussein against his compatriots, by the Taliban against the Afghan people and especially Afghan women, and by the government of Sudan against the people of Darfur, they must also condemn what is happening in Iran.
But, for the condemnations to have any credibility, the condemners themselves must have credibility. Thus, in my opinion, only the condemnations of the truly antiwar activists, those who stood firmly against any sanctions or unprovoked attacks on Iran, and true believers in the universality of human rights, not those for whom human rights are a baton to hit the opposition, would ... >>>

Support or Opportunity!?

by IRANdokht on

The Iranian people do not forget the positions of the same people who are now shedding crocodile tears for the good people of Iran. They do not forget that Senator John McCain who now sheds such tears, is the same man who said “bomb, bomb, bomb” Iran, and the same man who has consistently supported the illegal invasion of Iraq and the escalation of the Afghan war by the Obama administration, which has resulted in the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of people. The decent people of Iran do not need, nor have they asked for, the Senator’s support.

Let us not forget that William Kristol, the neoconservative with crocodile tears in his eyes, is the same man who was a major force behind the invasion of Iraq and did his utmost best to provoke George W. Bush to attack Iran. He now criticizes President Obama for being “resolutely irresolute” about interfering in Iran.

Iranians do not need Senator Joseph Lieberman’s crocodile tears, the turncoat who had no loyalty even to his own Democratic Party, the man who supported the invasion of Iraq, who did his best to start a war with Iran, and who has been the sponsor of so many Senate resolutions against Iran. He now “greatly admires the courage and principle of the Iranians.”

Capt' jan, I also like the site. They have published continuous updates too.

Kaveh

Are you trying to comment on Dr Sahimi's article or on me?

Whatever issue you have with me, I suggest you get over it!

Now write a comment without so many"IRANdokht" in it so if the author reads it, he'd know you're disagreeing with his article.

He wouldn't care what you think I do or I don't.

Usually you can tell if someone has read the article or not by the fact that they do not recognize the snippets copied as comment. What was the rush? can't read the article before jumping to make a point?  LOL this is just pathetic

Crocodile Tears?

by Kaveh Nouraee on

The only ones shedding such tears are those who have been enabling the IR with their support and their apologies for the past 30 years.

Being against the IR does not mean being against the Iranian people, as you are trying to make people believe, IRANdokht.

You traitors have been trying to have it both ways since day one. The truth, IRANdokht, is that you have an issue with McCain because he is a Republican, and an issue with Lieberman because he opposed Obama.

You showed your hand by stating your distaste for Lieberman because he put his own beliefs above the "party".

Party Loyalties? How do your views on "party loyalty" sit with what's going on in Iran? The protestors aren't demonstrating any party loyalty, are they? They're expresssing their own beliefs. So why is that OK with you (as you say) yet McCain, Kristol or Lieberman expressing theirs is so offensive?

That was a rhetorcial question. We already know the answer.

The points of view that you have stated on this site have made it obvious to everyone that you are really a socialist.

You can't even be called a liberal anymore, because by definition, liberals allow for the free and open expression of diverse views, ideas. and opinions, something that you have shown that you're dead against.

IRANdokht Et MON Q Irrelevent Indeed ...

by Darius Kadivar on

In Your posted Article :

"Reza Pahlavi, the same man who had called for boycotting the election and repeatedly called for sanctions against Iran, sanctions that hurt only ordinary Iranians, and in many cases, such as we saw in Iraq, have eventually led to war, suddenly started shedding tears for the demonstrators, the voters whom he had done his best to discourage from voting.

Mohsen Sazegara, the man who had opposed voting until the day before the election, was suddenly giving people “instructions” on how to resist the fraud. Others, mostly on the left side of the political spectrum, suddenly discovered the power of angry voters. Some even claimed that these protests were not on account of fraud or even Mousavi."

YOUR Friends at NIAC Have Been Plotting Against ANY ATTEMPT Towards Iranian Unity against the Islamic Republic at Large !

Simply by behaving NOT as an Apolitical IRANIAN AMERICAN organization aimed at representing All Iranians INSIDE America ( regardless of their political affiliations) but as a POLITICAL LOBBY defending the Interests of the Islamic Republic of IRAN and THUS IS NOT Representative of the Iranian American Diaspora at large most of whom were driven out of their country due to the Islamic Revolution and the Thugs who are running our Country !

Their Activism From the VERY START was to obliterate ANY Opposition to Islamic Republic and as such have been COLLABORATORS OF A REGIME THAT DROVE US TO EXILE !

Shah Ghollam

Know thy enemy

by Shah Ghollam on

The recent Iranian crisis has proven an established pattern of Iranins and that is the fact that they approach politics with their hearts more than with their heads.

More and more, I come across Iranian "patriots" ( of course those with honesty) to go completely blind in their recognition of who is a friend and who is a foe.

Factually, most of foreign personalities attached to enemies of Iran from the time of the revolution have no sincerety in their support for Iranians and Iranian system of government be it Liberman, Natan Yaboo, Shamir or in general any Western and Israeli government.

You ask how? Well, you would only need to go no further than to look at every Western/American puppet countries in the Middle East namely Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and so on. With the vast influence that the West has enjoyd in all these countries, one would wonder why they are all dictatorships like no other in the world streching over sixty years of post WWII history?

The answer is simple (quite frankly this should be a common knowledge to every Iranian, but is it?). The West by its historic nature, is an Imperialistic entity. For such an entity nothing else is important but its own interests AT ANY COST!

It is not at all in the West's interest to have democracies in one of the richests regions in the world. The west seeks "total domination" and as such Democracies are contrary to its interests. After all, it is much easier to deal with one a single club weilder such as Mobarak, King Faisal, King Hassan and Saddam than a parliament.

You can be sure, if it is left at the mercy of the West/America, there will be no Democracy, especially if that resonates with national independence, in the Middle East! In fact, those opposition groups (whoever they may be) may be surprised to know that the very Western voices of support will drop all their animosity, including the rage through media, in a split of a second if Ahmadinejad caters to them what they want, namely stopping enrichment, droping support for Hamas and Hezbollah and coordination of policies in Iraq and Afghanestan.  In fact, with absolute certainty, the West will even elevate Iran's over and above Saudi Arabia knowing the inherent power that lays in Iran as a nation.

See the big picture before you hang on to anyone simply because they offer "symapthy" for your political ideals.

The funniest thing is that now the opposition groups in diaspora seem to "own" the green movement and question NIAC's agenda and the rest who have always been for reform and on the side of the Iranian people living in Iran.

In any case, would you rather be attacked by DK or Fred, FK and the rest of them?
DK always has a video clip from an old archive and some new twists on the user ID,etc... the others are predictable and monotone, just a rerun of the same old slogans. Boring!

NIAC and any other Iranian who believes that Iran can be a great country but doesn't necessarily need a complete regime change could have voted and voted green. They never boycotted the elections, so their tears do not count as crocodile tears.

I already responded to anonym7 and expressed my views.

You and I don't have to agree, but completely emotional outbursts, name calling and getting out of line is not really becoming of a gentleman.

Dear Anonym7

by IRANdokht on

I find myself in tune with Dr Sahimi's opinion a great deal too. On this one subject I think he's being too harsh on the opposition.

I don't see most of them in favor of Mousavi, most of them are actually pretty outspoken about Mousavi's role in IRI as the Prime Minister and they try to include the Iranian Lion and Sword flag to distinguish between themselves and the green wave. I don't think all the ones who are now speaking of united opposition are opportunists, but as far as the Republican party including Lieberman is concerned, I am with Dr Sahimi %100!

I am just curious, which parts did you not agree with?

Thanks for the link Irandokht. I was not that curious about anybody's opinion as much I was about Sahimi's. I value his opinion greatly .... although this time I disagree with a number of crucialy important things he says ... I almost never disagreed with him!
