According to BBC Persian, Yadullah Javani, the chief commander of the revolutionary guard, with respect to the recent events in Iran stated: “the Islamic Republic dodged a very dangerous event and has insured itself for at least the next 20 years.”. Two days before the elections, Javani had warned Ahmadinejad’s opponents that “any movements towards a velvet revolution will be suffocated on the spot.”
Javanny’s recent remarks have been interpreted by many to be direct threats to the Mousavi and Karroubi camps. While more importantly his rhetoric is very dictatorial and brutal.

Twenty years? That's the best he can do? What an extraordinary statement. I mean, there he is, as sinister and powerful a military commander as ever there was, and he ain't exactly talking Thousand Year Reich here. And as a coincidence, that's juuust about when he and most of his little friends should all be pushing daisies...and one more generation, and well, we all know about Khomeini's grandson. Chip off the ol' block.
The point I am trying to make is that I always kept saying that if it hadn't've been for Bush's military flanking of Iran causing the hardliner backlash, the Mullahs would've been well on their way to dying the natural death that is the fate of all dinosaurs. And nobody believed me. Except apparently Javani.
I know, I know, the niac blurb (copied here in its barebones entirety in the excerpt) doesn't say anything else, and I can't read the BBC Persian link to even know whether it gives any more details. But I don't care. No matter what else he may have spewed from his mouth, or where or why, he said it. And as far as I'm concerned, that's enough for me.
Me and my homie, Yadullah. We understand each other

Islamic Republic will outlast all of us and more...
by NezarehGar (not verified) on Wed Jul 08, 2009 03:20 PM PDTYou may ask why, the answer is obvious for those who have a deep understanding of Iran, Iranians and Islam. Due to the deep rooted Islamic belief and the crimes committed by the colonial powers and their lackies (Shah, King Abdollah, Mobard, etc) in all Muslim countries the trend is toward the creation of more Islamic regimes in the Middle East. I was for Mossavi and the reformist to win but I knew it was impossible. In ten years or so there will be more mass demonstrations against the Iranian government with the same results. It is what it is.

But anyway a total of 50 years is a full quarter of 200. Maybe it's a question of "quality vs. quantity".
