The American military unexpectedly released five Iranians on Thursday after holding them for two and a half years on charges they had orchestrated deadly attacks in Iraq. Iraqi officials promptly promised to turn them over to the Iranian Embassy in Baghdad.

by alexarjomand on Thu Jul 09, 2009 02:45 PM PDTObama is proving to be a true practioner of Realpolitik. He is entirely ambivalent to the condition of Iranians so long as he gets his nuclear deal. If you think that he is doing this because it is legally the right thing to do then you are being very naive. The timing of the release is completely insensitive to the current situation. The regime is in retreat, why do something to help them and confirm their belief that by acting like thugs they can get results? His mistake is that he does not recognise the true nature of Seyed Ali, Mojtaba and their friends. I am deeply touched by your concern for my sorry a$$ and appreciate your sentiments but rest assured that my sorry a$$ is safe and sound in London. I am worried about all the poor souls who are risking their lives to gain the most basic freedoms that every human being is entitled to.
Obama has shown he's serious about...
by Ostaad on Thu Jul 09, 2009 11:10 AM PDTrapprochement with Iran. Releasing the Iranian taken hostage by GW's goons will help the long term interests of both countries regardless who's in power in Iran.
Next step to help more Iranians to reclaim their country and their future from the current regime is to lift the counter-productive sanctions which have ensure the Iranian middle class's economic enslavement by the regime.
Lifting the sanctions will lead to creation of more robust non-governmental economic sector which will directly help the very people who standing up to the regime.
Those who are attacking Obama for his pro-Iranian people policies are barking off the wrong tree.
WGm1919 : I think you need to get your facts straight
by Bavafa on Thu Jul 09, 2009 10:50 AM PDTFirst off Obama is not a Muslim, only a few die-hard warmonger rednecks in US think he is.
Second, I think relating this to Zio-Nazis is like "rabeteh goos ba shaghighe"
Alexarjomand:
I guess you are in favor of a President that knows how to break the international law and kidnap foreigners, luck them up for ever without any charge or trial. Be aware, "what goes around comes around" Don't start crying foul if some one kidnap your sorry a$$ and kept you for years and years without any charges.
