Iranian police charge at defiant protesters

TEHRAN, Iran - Hundreds of young men and women chanted "death to the dictator," confronting police wielding batons and firing tear gas in the capital Thursday as opposition activists sought to revive street protests despite authorities' vows to "smash" any new marches.

For days, supporters of opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi have been calling for new protests in Tehran and other cities on Thursday, their first significant attempt to get back on the streets since security forces crushed massive demonstrations nearly two weeks ago in Iran's postelection turmoil.

Tehran governor Morteza Tamaddon warned that any new march Thursday would meet the same fate.

Re: By summing every

Mehrdad,

You need to be careful about what you read and at the same time try to comprehend it correctly. For example, I did not say the events in Iran have Zio-Nazi roots. They don't. I have repeatedly questioned the dramatization of events by the news media in the west, and in particular by those media which are aligned with the zio-nazis. There is no doubt that this is happening, and we should be careful. An Iranian uprising and hopefully a revolution is welcomed by all, not just Iranians inside and outside of Iran, but by the world. What we should be careful about is to get rid of a domestic monster and end up with a foreign monster which can be even worse. Do you know the history of 1953 coup by joint CIA-MI6? If not, I suggest you read it. It is very informative. Don't forget that those who don't learn from history are bound to repeat it.

thanks.

By summing every

by Bavafa on

By summing every despicable and evil action, no matter by who, and tying it to Zionism you will just make yourself and your argument more irrelevant. Zionism is a cancer in ME, but it has nothing to do with the defiant and brave protesters in Iran and the cowardly action of Basij/police and has nothing to do with Zionism. In fact both are cancerous entity, just one is destroying self (i.e. Iran) and the other is destroying others (Palestain)

We all know your motives here on Iranian.com , you try to divert attention from Iran to Palestine and Israel and anything you can blame your troubles on
the fact is young and old Iranian Muslims are protesting and actually have a nationality they love and want to protect not like you your traitor IR government that hires Lebanese and Palestinian thugs to join your Basiji Thugs and beat and kill your own people.
you put your government and Khamenei thugs before your nationality and just go blindly with their ideology...
I know there is no changing of your mind since you are so brain washed and blind but the rest of us aren't blind and can see trough you and your boyfriend Shah Gholams lies and propaganda and diversion tactics....
its getting old try to come up with some new lies jujeh basiji
