Before we go too far down the road cheering the forces of Iranian democracy, let's not forget that its public face, Mir-Hossein Mousavi, has American blood on his hands. He was Iran's Prime Minister during most of the 1980s, a time when the country was waging a terrorist campaign against the U.S.
Earlier this week, I received an e-mail from a Lebanese who was present at the creation of the country's Iranian-backed, Shi'ite militia Hizballah in 1982 and on familiar terms with its most radical and violent members. He wrote: "Are you people crazy backing Mousavi, a patron of Hizballah's terrorist wing?"

by fozolie on Mon Jul 27, 2009 03:10 PM PDTIt was incompetence by GW, necons and "khoshbavarie" that Iraqis would line up the streets. Seems you suffer from similar delusions. GW has been the best guarantor of Akhoond regime by his incompetence and misguided vengence against Saddam.

If it were not for Hezbollah's defeat of the...
by Ostaad on Mon Jul 27, 2009 12:21 PM PDTthe Zionist army, GW and Olmert would have attacked Iran with all their might. The real shock-and-awe show was supposed to be on display in Iran. I firmly believe what stopped them was Hezbollah taking the wind out of their sails when Israel attacked Lebanon in 06 and was defeated.
GW wanted Israel to wipe out Hezbollah so he could attack Iran with Israel's direct help but Hezbollah was in the way.
Investing in training and organizing Hezbollah has proved to be the wisest investment in Iran's security as well as the best insurance against Israel's adventurism regarding Iran.
Ask yourself what kept Israel and GW from attacking Iran four years ago when both were armed and ready to "do the job". The answer is Israel's humiliating defeat by Hezbollah, that's why.
