پيکر پاک خلبان آزاده سيدالاسرا امير سرلشگر شهيد حسين لشگري امروزچهارشنبه از مقابل درب منزلش واقع در شهرک غرب در ميان حلقه دوستاران و مردم شهيد پرور به طرف ستاد نيروي هوايي ارتش جمهوري اسلامي ايران تشييع شد.

RIP General Lashkari

I nominate this Iranian hero and symbol of endurance and persistence as Iranian of the day. 

General Pilot Hossein Lashkari was shot down over Iraq on his 13th mission defending our country on September 18, 1980. He was held in Iraq for 18 years, making him the longest held POW in aviation history. He was 57 years old. These are some pictures from his funeral, held near his house yesterday.

May he rest in peace...

I believe it was of natural causes, although the news reports state he died of injuries sustained during captivity...18 years in a Saddam prison can do terrible things to a man.
