Yesterday, speaking to the ILNA news agency,
governor of the central bank of Iran said that writing slogans on bills is a
"crime," adding, "People who engage in writing slogans on bills are essentially
wasting the nation's wealth and national resources." In his short interview with
IRNA, Mahmoud Bahmani attempted to play down the problem, but said in
threatening remarks, "Any person who has left a mark on a bill, even drawing a
line on it, has committed a crime."

The governor of Iran's central bank dodged ILNA's question as to whether the
central bank has plans for replacing bills that exhibit slogans, only saying,
"No decision has yet been made and we must enact policies about that."

Ho! Ho! This tactic is even harder to stop than the anti-regime graffiti everywhere or the rooftop chants.

SAFELY EXPANDING NOVEMBER 4TH DEMONSTRATION

If the regime actually intends to mobililize three million Basilj against the November 4th demonstration, the opposition needs to provide a relatively safe way for the less bold to demonstrate and express themselves.   My recommendation: Such people don't turn up for work and/or demonstrate by simply wearing green prominently all day and standing where they can be seen--in front of homes, restaurants, offices withoiut saying a word and allowing their colors to make a point.  No need to join in actual marches if too intimidated.
