Le 22 septembre 2009, la presse faisait état de "tractations secrètes" pour la libération de Clotilde Reiss, une jeune Française, prise en otage par la République islamique d'Iran (RII), en échange de la libération d'Ali Vakili Rad, un Iranien qui purge une peine de prison à vie en France. Ali Vakili Rad est un des membres du commando qui a assassiné, le 6 août 1991, l'ancien premier ministre iranien Chapour Bakhtiar et son jeune secrétaire, Sorouche Katibeh.

But governments tend to excuse each other's acts of murder, when it suits them. One would not rely upon the French govt for any principles - well, look at the Rainbow Warrior affair, etc.
