Former Pakistani Army General Mirza Aslam Beig claims the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has distributed 400 million dollars inside Iran to evoke a revolution.
In a phone interview with the Pashto Radio on Monday, General Beig said that there is undisputed intelligence proving the US interference in Iran.
“The documents prove that the CIA spent 400 million dollars inside Iran to prop up a colorful-hollow revolution following the election,” he added.
Pakistan’s former army chief of joint staff went on to say that the US wanted to disturb the situation in Iran and bring to power a pro-US government.
He congratulated President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on his re- election for the second term in office, noting that Pakistan relationship with Iran has improved during his 4-year presidency.
>>>In 2002 America tried to overthrow Hugo Chavez's elected government.
In Chile America overthrew Salvador Allendeh and installed a dictator , Pinochet.
In 1953 they overhtrew Mohammad Mosadeq and installed a brutal repersssive regime.
and now they are up to their old tricks AGAIN... but they will fail

Good, spend more. These
by benross on Mon Jan 11, 2010 06:52 PM PSTGood, spend more. These mullahs deserve everything they get, and the Iranian people need all the help they can get.
Actually according these 'leaked' information, and the amount of money involved and the timeline etc. etc., IRI should have been toppled by now! Or, we should be witnessing a major operational failure and the victorious IRI parading all these CIA agents in the streets of Tehran! The operation is leaked, so where is the rest of the story?
Hersh is no longer a credible journalist. He is a businessman basking in his achievement of yore! He is more looking for a movie contract for his piece, rather than a journalism integrity. I recall a Canadian journalist account of her deep disappointment after an interview with her god, Seymor Hersh. But it's okay, somebody should believe in him! His business is on the line!
I guess we all watch too many movies, or too much of IRI propaganda that we loose the sense of rational.
YMJ; operations Ajax; CIA and so on
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Mon Jan 11, 2010 06:29 PM PSTListen: we were not born yesterday. All of us know about operation Ajax; CIA and how the British; US; Russia and various powers have interfered in Iran. We also know how Islam was imposed on us by Arabs. None of what you are saying is new to us.
In other words you are not dealing with a bunch of kids who are going to be impressed by a few facts. We heard this stuff long ago. We also know about how IRR is raping and ruining our nation and our culture. So don't waste your breath.
This stuff worked in 1978 but we are well beyond that now. Today's problem is not operation Ajax or Mossadegh. It is Khamenei; Ahmadinejad and the illegitimate Chinese backed dictatorship of Mullahs in Iran.
The people WANT Islamic Republic.. you might not..
by YMJ on Mon Jan 11, 2010 04:51 PM PSTYou should speak for yourself, not ALL of Iran.
Iran is very multilayred society, with 63% of them voting for Ahmadinejad and the others voting for a former prime minster.
America is on the wrong side of history and anyone who is not tainted and is after finding ou the TRUTH can see that.
So you are condoning America's foreing interference and them overthrowing an elected government like they did to Mohamad Mossadeq in 1953? and to Allende in Chile?
You dont seem like an Iranian, a true Iranian would stand up to foreigners who are trying to bring Iran to its knees to make it subservient to it.

If this is true, then the US for once
by Fair on Mon Jan 11, 2010 04:45 PM PSThas chosen the right side of history.
Good, spend more. These mullahs deserve everything they get, and the Iranian people need all the help they can get. They are getting raped and murdered in the name of Islam and Allah, and being "enemies of God". Those who whine about such help from abroad can start by helping the Iranian people themselves first so that foreigners don't have to.

Seymor Hersh is not credible??
by YMJ on Mon Jan 11, 2010 04:38 PM PSTAgain people are side stepping the facts to create an illusion rather than face reality.
America, through operation Ajax and 1 million dollars overthrew the elected government of Mohammad Mosadeq. At that time it was denied. Actually it was denied untill recently, probably by the likes of people like you.
Now they have over 400 million dollars to overthrow a government which is not subservient to them.

^^^ This link has a vidoe of Seymour Hersh talking about the covert opeartion to overthrow irans government.
I'm sure CIA is spending
by benross on Mon Jan 11, 2010 04:24 PM PSTI'm sure CIA is spending money all around the world, including Iran. But in order to get the amount of this spending, being 400 M or anything else, you need to access the information that the head of CIA has, or the president of USA. This report could easily be ignored because of its obvious lack of credibility. But it worths mentioning that if anybody claimed such information, then there should be much much more information at his or her disposal, regarding who, where , when and for what specific action this amount was allocated.
IRI usually takes a less stupid course of action in defamatory propaganda. It does mention who, where, when and for what specific action, without mentioning the amount being spent!
They also got rid of Mossadeq, with only 1 million $
by YMJ on Mon Jan 11, 2010 04:11 PM PSTIt's funny how everyone is sidestepping this and resorting to zionist rhetoric and sensationalism.
The fact is that America has allocated 400 million dollars for overt and covert operations.
For TRUE Iranians who want to see their country Independent they should condemn America and UK's foreign interference, rather than work with it.
Should have spent $4B and get it done
by Faramarz_Fateh on Mon Jan 11, 2010 03:03 PM PSTShame on the U.S. This is no time to be cheap.
They should have spent $4 billion to get rid of these SOBs
June 18 article on a pro Taliban site

Re: UK, about 10 years ago
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Mon Jan 11, 2010 01:38 PM PSTYou are right. Absolutely right about the British attitude. I have an Irish friend who used to show me articles on how the British compared the Irish to "white Apes". The British simply have no regard for any people except their own.
So much for their attitude about us and others. However future will not be kind to them. Thanks to the revolution there are some 3-10 million Iranians in the West. The diaspora is very well versed in the ways of the West; understand secular democracy. In addition the Iranian youth inside Iran are highly educated and not the naive bunch of the 60s. For all its faults the Iran has some of the best Universities in the world. Read this Newsweek article on Iranian Universities and their amazing success:
//www.newsweek.com/id/151684
The British are a tired old people unable to even keep up their own population. They now rely on immigration to keep up their work force. Iranian people have the fire of life in them that if properly nurtured will reclaim all the lost glory.
UK, about 10 years ago
by Cost-of-Progress on Mon Jan 11, 2010 11:49 AM PSTI was on assignment from my company and worked in UK for about 6 months. This gave me an opportunity to visit most of the country (mainly on weekends and by car). Although the standard of living in UK is below that of US, it is simply amazing when you realize that this small island once ruled large territories on the face of this planet. They did it by being fierce and smart. They "colonized" and used the colony's natural resuorces which made their country the "Empire" that it was.
I remember an Estate (in central England, the name I think was Chatsworth) where the duke and the duchess still lived in part of the mansion, but had showcased most of the rest of the Estate. In one of the rooms which was more like a museum, there was a canoe or a boat that was showcased as "having been rescued from inferior waters" ---- from Turkey! The inferior waters referenced the country or culture from which the boat had been donated (rescued)
These people looked upon us (and still do) as inferior and believed our resources was theirs for the taking - so they did that, took the reources and left little in their place. True that most of these places (take sub sahara Africa), were better off being a colony. At least they weren't hacking each other to death (which they did following their so-called independence). However, for other countries such as ours which was never formally a colony, they saw it best to manipulate the masses through religion and superstition. And boy, did we bite on that line hard....?
IT WORKED - and it is still working!

Good points by Cost of Progress and vildemose
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Mon Jan 11, 2010 11:03 AM PSTI wonder why the British have made it their job to hurt us. What did Iran ever to to them to warrant such hate?
There is no question that British funded and provided propaganda for Khomeini. They are even now doing whatever they can to prop up the Islamic Republic. I would like to see them kept out of Iran no matter what the next regime is. Whatever government we form we need to keep the influence of the British out.
Khomeini received 85

Foreign Interference not a big shock!
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Mon Jan 11, 2010 09:09 AM PSTJust a few days ago we have mani2000 advocate the IRI inflame Shiite feelings in secular Azeris. In addition we know as a fact that the Islamic Republic has been funding Hammas and been involved in Lebanaon. They are also interfering in Iraq and Afghanistan. Why are you surprised when US does it?
All nations mess in each others internal politics to advance their own interests. Iran does it; US does it. No surprises no shocks.
If it is true I am grateful.
