Karl Rove was forced to abandon a book event in Beverly Hills on Monday night after a fringe anti-war group branded him a "war criminal," CBS station KCAL-TV reported Tuesday.
Rove was reportedly left to fend for himself after a group of protesters hurled charges at him and one attempted a citizen's arrest.
The former White House adviser and deputy chief of staff to President George W. Bush was at the Saban Theater to discuss his new book, "Courage and Consequences: My Life as a Conservative in the Fight."
The co-founder of the anti-war group Code Pink, Jodie Evans, declared Rove a "war criminal," before approaching him with handcuffs, saying she was making a citizen's arrest, KCAL-TV said.
Evans charged at Rove, shouting, "outing a CIA agent ... you lied to take us to war ... totally ruining the country."
Rove was forced to leave the stage as another woman screamed , "The only comfort I take is that ... you're going to rot in hell."
