A leader of a group involved in the flotilla that tried to breach Israel's blockade of Gaza says the group was offered donations from Iran, but turned them down.

Greta Berlin, of the Free Gaza movement, says the group does not accept donations from radical countries or groups.

She said the group's largest single donation - euro300,000 (US$368,000) from a fundraising drive by former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad - was used to buy three ships.

Berlin said Thursday that the group, formed in California four years ago, has about euro38,000 (US$46,600) left in the bank, but received euro7,000 Wednesday from supporters around the world.

Israeli commandos stormed boats in the flotilla on Monday, and nine activists were killed.
