Former EU Iran envoy admits to spying
Tehran Times

Austria's former ambassador to Iran has admitted to efforts by European embassies in Tehran to engage in intelligence gathering in Iran in aftermath of last June's presidential elections.

Michael Posti reiterated in a Woodrow Wilson Center's panel discussion European support for the so-called pro-reform movement in Iran that had falsely alleged fraud in Iran's tenth presidential election that marked historic 85-percent voter participation, Fars News Agency reports.

He also admitted to obtaining plenty of information using the twitter and the dispatching of diplomatic personnel of European embassies in Tehran throughout the city, complaining that Iranian officials protested such moves as interference in their internal affairs.

Very reliable. I wouldn't be surprised though if EU would have spies in Iran.

Have low expectations

when it comes to journalism and news when it comes to the Islamic rapist republic and its mercenary Lebanese agents.

The Islamic rapist republic has closed down more newspapers and imprisoned more journalists than any other country in the world, including the "Zionist media" dominated countries that chicken little is trying to divert attention with.

You saw what acopier said- where is the original source of this report.

The Islamic rapist republic media is just a mouthpiece for the Chinese backed military dictatorship which currently rules over the Iranian people by force.  And no amount of silly charades by regime operatives is going to fool anybody into thinking otherwise, except possibly the regime itself.  And ultimately this regime's own self delusion will be its downfall.

Incidentally, how many south lebanese and Gazans came out today to express support for the Iranian people on their anniversary of being taken hostage by a military dictatorship?

Editorials versus news pieces

by Shifteh Ansari on

I agree that the way a news piece is written can be insidious and without any news merit, intended to plant fake news or to divert attention from the real news.
The problem with Fars, Mehr, Borna, Press TV, IRIB, Tehran Times, and of course Kayhan is that they all represent an ideological state's news media--they don't "report" the news, but throw state propaganda and editorial opinions at you.

Though the Islamic Republic's use of such tactics is rampant and disgusting, they are not the only ones doing it. I would stay away from any and all sources which fabricate the news OR those who editorialize it. I also dislike Iran Press News, who is completely on the opposite side of IRI's media, because it alters the news it is re-reporting and quoting by adding editorialized titles and source references.

Iranian news sources are often bad mouthed for inaccuracy in reports or even news manipulation. These sources are in cases better than the Western sources. The history of the Zionist supported news sources speak for themselves as far as reliability is concerned.

The last such western news fabrication has been the Israeli Air Force passage permission from Saudi Arabia to attack Iran. I will hoever leve this discussion to another time.

As far as the news t hand is concerned, there is an incomplete report on the subject that you can find here:

Is this an accurate piece of news?

by acopier101 on

Dear IMF,

I believe the name of Austria's former ambassador to Iran is Michael Postle, not Michael Posti as reported.  Tehran Times uses Press TV as the source of the news (bottom of the page), while Press TV itself is mentioning Fars News as the source of the news.  Meanwhile I can not find any related news item from Fars News, either in English or Farsi.  If you do please post the link here.  This news item has not been reported by anyone else, anywhere.  If it has please provide a link here.

Thank you,
