Dick Davis was born in Portsmouth, England in 1945. He received his BA and MA in English Literature from King's College, Cambridge. He visited Iran in the 1970s and started learning Persian and teaching at the University of Tehran.

Davis married in Iran and lived there for eight years. After the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the Davis family returned to England where his love for the Persian language guided him to the University of Manchester where he received a PhD in Medieval Persian Literature.

Thank you, khaleh mosheh, for reading.......apparently the guy knows and reads a lot of Persian literature........I have a long way to go.......he has a lot of respect for Iranian people also.

I am glad he translated a lot of Persian classics and introduced them to the rest of the world!

Thank you for the namesake song! LOL!
