Armenia imports wheat from Iran

At his meeting with journalists on August 30, RA Minister of Agriculture Gerasim Alaverdyan reported that Armenia is now importing wheat from Iran because of embargo on wheat export in Russia.

The Mancho Group Company is now dealing Iran. The minister pointed out that the wheat is to undergo a quality examination.

Iran is expecting a grain yield of 15m tons this year and plans to export 2m tons.

Armenian also started importing wheat from Bulgaria, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. Minister Alaverdyan said that the Government is now negotiating the import of some amount of grain with Russia. Three contracts have been suspended because of the embargo on wheat export in Russia.

This August Armenia imported more wheat than last August, the minister said.
