Great Idea. I also suggest we refer to "Palestine" as Judia and Samaria. That will get them hyped up.

There is a lot of meaning in a name. Ironically these same Arabs idolize Iran! In the USA I routinely get approached by Arabs who tell me how they look up to us. I was at a restaurant with my kid. The waiter was from north Africa. As soon as he heard I was Iranian I got VIP treatment. This whole thing will come to a head. In Iraq you get more respect speaking Persian than if you speak English. One guy was telling me the only way to get good accommodations in Southern Iraq is to speak Persian.

I hope all of you realize the contempt the US military has for Iran that they are prepared to slander Iran's heritage in such an egregious way.

The reason why the Navy chooses to use "Arabian Gulf" and not the historically used "Persian Gulf" is that "Arabian Gulf" is the naming convention recognized by our regional Arab partner nations and used by the U.S. Navy in the 5th Fleet area of operations.

They can't stand the name of a body of water with the word Fars in it.  Now keep kissing their asses and make "Mokhtar Nameh."  

On another note, congratulations to them.  They won this game.  They won it because they put the interests of their people and their culture over everything else.  And they didn't concentrate on liberating "Ghods", even though that's Arab land, over the interests of their own people.  Even the Palestinians and South Lebanese united with other Arabs over the "Arabian Gulf" issue.  Good for them.

Thank you for posting this article........it is funny that US Navy keeps deleting the protest messages on their facebook, but never answers the question why they changed the name to Arabian Gulf!

The 'sickle' you refer to is actually of Indian

origins. Many believe it to be of the same family as Indian Sick's. Keep in mind that Khomeini's grand father was an 'imported' Shia clergy from India. They used to import them from Lebanon, Iraq and India. One silver lining could be, if we get tired of Arab bashing we could always start Indian bashing? cheers
