At a conference at the University of Hamadan, in central Iran, on the subject of aid to the Palestinians, Iranian reformist Prof. Sadegh Zibakalam stated that the aid to the Palestinians does not serve Iran, and that Israel is a legitimate state established according to a U.N. resolution and the Palestinians are not the only righteous ones in the disputes with it.
In response, Qassem Ravanbakhsh, an associate of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, said that Iran's aid to the resistance was important because it prevents Israel from attacking Iran and that the U.N, that established Israel, is run by the superpowers and therefore Israel's establishment is not legitimate.
