Ottawa police have three adult men in custody in connection with the shooting of 16-year-old Yazdan Ghiasvand Ghiasi, whose body was dumped from a car near Chinatown on Monday morning.

Ottawa's major crimes unit said police were questioning the three men Tuesday and that charges were pending in what they were calling a homicide, the 10th in Ottawa this year.

An autopsy conducted Tuesday revealed Ghiasi died from a gunshot wound. Ghiasi's death is not believed to be gang related, Ottawa police said.

Ghiasi's body was found covered in blood on Booth Street near Somerset Street West on Monday at 10:30 a.m. after a witness reported hearing two shots and then seeing the body dumped from a car.

Residents came to his aid and attempted CPR, but the teen was pronounced dead at hospital.

Ata Fathi, a friend of Ghiasi's family, called the teenager's death "unjustifiable" and said the family is struggling to understand why it happened.

Police have arrested the killers

The license plate on the getaway car led police to three men now charged in Ottawa's 10th murder of 2010.

A quick thinking cabbie took down the plate number of a car seen
speeding away from Booth St., where 16-year-old Yazdan Ghiasvand Ghiasi
was shot and dumped on the sidewalk at about 10:30 a.m. on Monday
morning.

He died before paramedics could arrive, even though an ambulance station is just around the corner on Gladstone Ave.

Police immediately issued an all points bulletin to officers as well
as fire and paramedics to keep an eye out for the car leaving the area.
It was able to slip through the dragnet, but only temporarily.

Abdulhamid Wehbe, 20, is charged with second-degree murder. Zakaria
Dourhnou, 18 and Khaled Wehbe, 19, are each charged with accessory after
the fact.
