The delegation of “Eye from Zion” organization arrived in the
islands on Thursday, a year after Tel Aviv renewed diplomatic relations
with the nation.
The relations between the two countries were severed following the
1973 Ramadan war, Israel's Ynet news website reported on Tuesday.
The angry protesters held demonstrations in front of the hotel where
the eye surgeons stayed, burning the Israeli flag and calling for the
deportation of the delegation.
Islamic opposition party Adhaalath and the Islamic Association of
the Republic of Maldives condemned the travel of the Israeli doctors to
the country, considering it as a part of an Israeli-Zionist conspiracy
intending to steal the Maldivians' organs.
The association's website said there is a secret agenda behind the
Israelis' visit to the Maldives, stressing that these physicians, who
are members of an Israel-Jewish organization, are sent overseas to
harvest organs for implantation.
They added that Israelis similarly steal organs from the Palestinian bodies.
The party further demanded the government to expel the Israeli
delegation immediately and not to allow them to operate in the country.
