The problem is not the Arabs
by unreligion (not verified) on Wed Nov 28, 2007 08:22 AM PSTIslam was forced upon Iranians by intimidation and sword wielding people. I say people because it doesn't matter if they were Arabs, Turks or Japanese. The problem is the nature of Islam. It's the only religion where intimidation, threats and violence is the answer to all problems and this has been proven time and again throughout the years. Most recently several people were threatened and even killed by narrow minded fanatics for so called offending Islam! When was the last time someone was killed for offending Christianity? Who knows? Maybe many of the Moslems in the world would have converted to other religions if they were not afraid of violence against them. Moslems go to Europe in drove (especially France) and instead of modernizing and assimilating they try to force their ways upon the people of that country, virtually creating a sub country within the host country. The questionable nature of Islam is evident in many of the countries of the region. Just look at Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Iran, and the list goes on and on.
i just read john Carpenter's comments
by Issac rosenberg (not verified) on Tue Nov 27, 2007 09:07 AM PSTJohn Carpenter makes the most sense out of all you people. Why are you people so filled with hate? What have the Shia Muslim Clergy done to you people? You are all imagining atrocities. Iran, according to the US Media is more democratic than prior to January 1979. More Iranian women are college grads than they ever were before the revolution. My country, America will probably open up direct dialog with the Ayatollah Khamenei after January 20, 2009. So get ready. The next US President will visit Tehran or Qom and there will be direct dialog with the Persian (Shia Muslim Clergy) Empire.

Islam was ruling the world when Europe was going through superstition and dark ages for hundreds of years. Go back to your history books. The golden years are coming back again.
Islam has not worked in Iran for 1400 years
by * (not verified) on Sat Nov 24, 2007 08:03 PM PSTThis is not blame game. This is a fact that Islam has not worked in Iran for last 1400 years. Islam has actually been an obstacle to modernity, freedom, and demcracy and has caused great loss of lives of Iranians.
Being against Islam is not being racist against Arabs. Arabs are also victim to Islam.
Intelligent Arabs sympathize with Iranians because of Islamists atrocities against Iranians.
NO ISLAM, NO MULLAHS, NO ARABS....

Blame everyone else but Irooniha
by Irooni (not verified) on Sat Nov 24, 2007 02:47 PM PSTWe Iranians have a nasty habit of blaming everybody else for our ills but ourselves. As early as Alexander the Great then the Arabs. Then were the British. Then of course the Americans and now the Arabs again. Not to mention the Jews and Israelis as well as the Baha'i and ....
Regarding Iran, the Shia Muslim Clergy, Arab Iranians
by John Carpenter (not verified) on Sat Nov 24, 2007 12:47 PM PSTThe province of Khuzestan has a big population of Iranian Arabs. It was many of those Iranian Arabs who fought back and protected Iran during the Iran-Iraq war. To say that there should be a seperation between Iran and the Arabs is just plain racist. My ethnicity is Fars (Persian). I have no animosity towards the Arabs. The religion of Islam has been in Iran for many years.
"The last of the Sassanid kings was Yazdegerd III, during whose reign (632-651) the Arabs invaded Persia, destroyed all resistance, gradually replaced Zoroastrianism with Islam, and incorporated Persia into the caliphate."
Microsoft ® Encarta ® Encyclopedia 2005 © 1993-2004 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
Let me clarify, the daughter of Yazdegerd III married the grandon of the Prophet Mohammad. Shahbanou was her name. And the son of Yazdegerd III, after the death of Yazdegerd converted to Islam. Hence, the prince/shah became a Muslim. Yazdegerd III was killed by a Persian.
Now lets zoom forward to January 1979. The Shah of Iran, who visited Imam Reza's shrine once a year fled Iran. The Shah was asked by his Generals if they could shoot down Khomeini's Air France flight. The Shah gave his General's direct orders to permit Ayatollah Ruh Allah Moosavi Khomeini to land in Tehran's MehrAbad Airport.
During the 1980s the 8 year Iran-Iraq war happened.
In 1989 Khomeini died and Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei was elected by the "Majlis Khobregan" to be the Spiritual leader.
There is still a Majlis in Iran that runs the day to day activities.
Is Iran Arab or pro-Arab?
not really.
the Iranian government has a lot of foreign connections. To tell you the truth, the Arab leaders don't really like the Islamic Republic of Iran. That is why Saudi Arabia has recently accepted the invitation for Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.
Things are more complex than they seem. A photo from 70 years ago does not amount to a hill of beans.
I am shocked that my fellow Iranians are so angry at the current situation, to the extent they blame the "Arab boogeyman" for all the problems they have in their private lives.
Mossadegh passed away in the late 1960s. One of the Nationalist Fronts members was Mehdi Bazargan. Another member was Shapour Bakhtiar. Bakhtiar backed the Shah and had to fee Iran due to the fact that the Iranian masses did not like Bakhtiar. Mehdi Bazargan held a position in Khomeini's government. Mr. Bazargan died. Bazargan's next in charge is Ebrahim Yazdi. Mr. Yazdi is an American citizen. And Mr. Yazdi's organization has a minimal effect on Iranian politics today. And by the way the Oil Nationaliztion days have been over since the 1950s.
So, the Shah fled in 1979 and handed over Iran to the Shia Clergy headed by Imam Khomeini.
US President Carter abandoned the Shah
US President Reagan and VP Bush sold Arms to the Islamic Republic in the Iran-Contra Affair.
President Clinton eased sanctions on Iran so that the "Haji Bazaaris, who back the Mullahs" can sell their Persian Rugs, Caviar, Persian Gulf Tuna (tuna Bandari) and pistachio nuts to Americans.
And many in President G.W. Bush's camp are calling for direct talks with Iran. By the way, they have had direct talks regarding Iraq 3 times already in Iraq.
All in all, it seems business as usual. And the barrels of Oil keep on getting sold.
Why should anyone be upset?
It just doesn't make sense.
It's all about capitalism.
Isn't China importing the most goods to the US?
I hope you guys wake up and smell the "chelo kabob barg".
What a contrast between then and now...
by Anonymous^2 (not verified) on Sat Nov 24, 2007 10:45 AM PSTBy all metrics, measures, criteria, and standards, Iran and Iranians have regressed.
I say khak bar sar'e Iranians for allowing a bunch of Arab-loving criminal Islamists take over their country, plunder their belongings, and rape their naamous in the name of Allah, Imam Hossein, Qor'ann and a bunch of other barbarci concepts.
Did I say khak bar sar'e Iranians, I take it back. I meant to say goh bar sar'e Iranians. Khah is too good to be wasted on Iranians!
REPLY : TIMES OF HOPE , IRAN SHALL RISE AGAIN
by Faribors Maleknasri M. D (not verified) on Sat Nov 24, 2007 10:19 AM PSTsince 1978/79 are the Times of Hope emerged. the time of glorie is continude. The devilish Dust is far away - W.D.C.is its Center -. But the threat can not be ignored. thats why the heros in Land, they count 70 Million, stand ready. they are willing to sacrifice Life and Blood. So the Devil does not dare to come near. at least it ( the devil ) has not dared till now. once he sent a littel Devil ( Sadam ). He did but only a bad job for devil. Despite all he wanted to get paid. so he had to die. No other Devil is available since then. The neighbourstates of IRI have realised: it is better to live in neighbourliness with iran, the rich and mighty modern Iran. One can assum that this glorious aera will be the iranians for many many centuries. So the iranians have no reason to worry. they are all happy. It is better for me to come to an end now. because in "IRANIAN" nothing is sacred. some speciall things seems to be even less sacred. they are not alloud to be mentioned. Greeting

Times of Hope
by iota (not verified) on Sat Nov 24, 2007 08:15 AM PSTThis is a powerful and poignant reminder of Iran's
fleeting days of hope, promise and energy: When
Iranians could debate common concerns transparently
and in civil forms.
The winds of Freedom are blowing and are gathering
the strength of a thousand storms to restore Iran's
Liberty!
A better and stronger Iran shall rise again from
the ashes of today's Evil Darkness!
